General Hospital News: Matt Cohen Stars In New Hallmark Christmas Movie

General Hospital News: Griffin Monroe (Matt Cohen)Matt Cohen, who used to portray Dr. Griffin Monroe on “General Hospital,” stars in a new Hallmark movie titled “Holiday Date. The film is set to premiere on December 22, and it is one of the two Hanukkah-themed movies on the list of holiday movies that the channel will air this season.

The actor shared the wonderful news on Twitter. “Starring Brittany Bristow and myself!” Cohen said. “Hallmark Channel is bringing you a whole bunch of my cheesy smile this holiday season!”

Hallmark is keeping everything about the upcoming film under wraps. There are no photos, trailers, or plot descriptions yet. But, the movie will likely be about two people, that being Cohen and Bristow, falling in love during Hanukkah.

General Hospital News – Cohen’s Thoughts On Leaving The ABC Soap

The 36-year-old actor debuted his role as Dr. Griffin Munro back in 2017. He stayed on the show for three years before his character was written out in March 2019. Good news for his fans, though, as the door was left open for Cohen’s character to return to the soap.

In an interview with TV Insider, Cohen said he had fun playing his character. He tried to explain his decision to leave and said that he’s the kind of person who “gets uncomfortable when he gets comfortable.” So he’s decided to give Griffin a little rest for now. He teased that his character had an open-ended exit.

“There is no greater compliment to be paid to an actor than to have the possibility of a return.” He was grateful for everyone at the network, including executive producer Frank Valentini, for giving him the opportunity to come back.

In 2007, Cohen appeared on “Boogeyman 2” and “Chain Letter” in 2010. His other film credits include “Tai Chi & Qi Gong Basics,” “Trigger,” “Chutes and Ladders,” “Hard Crime,” and “Liquorice.”

Cohen became popular when he joined the series “South of Nowhere” from 2005 to 2008. He also appeared on various other TV shows including “Supernatural” and “How to Get Away with Murder.”

Aside from his new Hallmark movie, Cohen has kept himself busy after leaving “General Hospital.” He’s directed a short film titled “Mama Bear,” featuring his wife Mandy Musgrave. He hopes to sell the short film and maybe even direct it as a feature-length film. Also, there are other directing projects on the horizon.
