General Hospital News: Sean Blakemore Is Headed To Primetime, Again!

Sean Blakemore, who once played Shawn Butler on “General Hospital,” is returning to the hit OWN primetime drama “Greenleaf” as Phil. Blakemore, who first appeared on the show back in 2018, can be seen on the show’s season four trailer, which was released last week. Greenleaf is set to return to the screens on September 3, 2019.

Sean Blakemore is an American actor who has appeared on several shows like “ER,” “Monk,” “The Shield,” “Cold Case,” “NCIS,” and “Bones.” He was a successful model before moving to Los Angeles in 1998 to become an actor.

He received critical acclaim at the Hollywood Black Film Festival for his role as Ric Jackson on “Big Ain’t Bad.” His other acting credits include “Dahmer,” “Motives 2: Retribution,“ and “Blackout.” Blakemore joined the cast of “General Hospital” on a contract role on 2011 and left in 2015. He reappeared for an episode on Nov 2015 and April 2016.

Greenleaf’s season 4 trailer highlights the increasing drama inside a megachurch that’s going through a strange transition. The new season will show the Greenleaf’s trying to keep a united front as they run the risk of losing Calvary to Bob Whitmore (Beau Bridges) and Harmony & Hope Ministries. Things are made worse when the family’s past and present secrets threaten the stability of their currently fragile foundation.

Grace, portrayed by Merle Dandridge and Lady Mae, played by Lynn Whitfield, will work together to take back their church from Harmony & Hope, whose grip on Calvary tightens as days go by. Grace will use her influence inside the church while Lady Mae work from the outside. However, Grace is derailed from when one of her secrets the past come back to haunt her. Meanwhile, the Bishop, portrayed by Keith David, tries to patch things up with his wife Lady Mae.

Greenleaf’s past three seasons have performed extremely well, averaging 2 million viewers each season. At the helm of the show’s success is Craig Wright as the show’s writer and executive producer, as well as Clement Virgo of “Empire,” Kriss Turner Towner of “The Romanoffs,” and Oprah Winfrey.

    It would be nice for him to return at least to close out his story and allow it to be known that he was imprisoned for a crime he did not commit.
