General Hospital Spoilers – Stories Are Cutting Edge
General Hospital writers have always tried to keep up with the times by dealing with real-world issues and, of course, some Cassadine craziness. However, you would think COVID-19 would not drastically affect the storylines. However, that may not be true. COVID-19 is forcing General Hospital, as well as the other three remaining daytime dramas, to adapt to social distancing.
General Hospital stars were forced to return to work without their usual crew of make-up and stylists when they returned to the set in mid-July. The glitz and glamour of the Nurses’ Ball were replaced by a telethon instead of the skits we are used to as well. Now before the actors can come into the building and on set they must test negative to COVID-19. Actors must wear masks at all times unless taping and scene, and the usual hugs from cast members are no more. General Hospital fans must get used to less touching onscreen which may lead to more creative writing to keep things interesting.
GH Spoilers – Laura Wright Responds To Social Distancing
Laura Wright, who plays General Hospital’s Carly Corinthos, told TV Insider that this allows the actors to get more creative with their work. Wright, who has been a soap star since long before her time at General Hospital started, knows without the touching and love scenes that fans are accustomed to, both that writers and the actors are going to have to step it up to sell their stories. The actress believes this will open them up and push them to be better actors because they cannot rely heavily on touch. Now, instead of the intense love scenes that fans crave, the actors are being forced to put more emotion as well as more of themselves in their scenes.
General Hospital Spoilers – The Set Is Not As Social As Before
General Hospital’s “Carly,” says the set is not as sociable as it used to be. Even now, more than six months after the coronavirus veered its ugly head, the actors have to sit in their chairs while in hair and make-up with plexiglass between them and wearing masks to bring us the show we love. Even the hair and makeup artists come in with masks and shield protection.
Things have certainly changed on the set which could force changes in writing that fans have been asking for, after all, if love in the afternoon isn’t a possibility, the writing is going to have to be stellar to keep the interest in the show going.
