It has been announced that when the show returns on August 3 she will be in the role of Sam McCall, not Kelly Monaco. What gives?

That is a very good question! There has been no official word as to the exact reason why Lindsay will now be in the role, but we can make an informed guess. In the past, Kelly has had to address weight gain rumors and we know that she had issues with her back and spinal cord. It could be that her weight gain was connected to health issues and if that’s the case she may be taking some time to recuperate.
Which is one reason why there may be a need for another actress to step into the role, although that is speculation at this point?

Lindsay has addressed the speculation which as you can imagine is now burning through the daytime mill like wildfire. As for temporarily stepping into the role of GH’s Sam McCall, she said, “some big shoes to fill…precious too. I hope you enjoy watching Sam as much as I have enjoyed playing her, temporarily.”
So that fills in one of the gaps in our wonderment. Apparently the recast is temporary which will be good news for diehard JaSam fans.

Hartley debuted on the daytime drama scene at the end of the last century when in 1999 she was first seen as Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald on Passions. After the show was canceled she went over to Days of our Lives to play the part of Arianna Hernandez and on the set, she was reunited several Passions co-stars including Galen Gering who is still on the show (for the time being) as Rafe Hernandez.
Arianna was eventually killed off but that didn’t stop Lindsay from continuing her soap career. Next, she appeared as Cara Castillo on All My Children. She remained with the sudser until its network demise and appeared on its reincarnation as a Prospect Park redo.

GH Spoilers – Lindsay Hartman Has Big Shoes To Fill (Temporarily) For Kelly Monaco
So that’s what Lindsay has been up to in the past. What has she been doing lately? The lovely and talented actress has been busy starring in and writing/directing several Lifetime movies!
Even though fans can see her work on cable, that has not stopped dedicated daytime fans from voicing their desire to see her return in some way, shape, or fashion. And now they have their wish!
Expect to see the soap vet Lindsay Hartley to make her GH debut in August.
Everyone is replaceable. Better that than the character is gone. Be glad that GH is back.
I like this new Sam. She plays the role realistically. Very pretty too. Kelly was becoming sooooo boring.
