General Hospital spoilers and updates confirm the death of John “Jagger” Cates as Adam Harrington confirms his exit from the show on social media. The recast character stirred up trouble in Port Charles for the last six months.

General Hospital Spoilers – Jagger Cates Arrived February 2, 2024

To newer viewers, John “Jagger” Cates didn’t ring any bells when he first appeared in the former “Kelly’s”, renamed “Bobbie’s” after the offscreen death of Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman).

For longtime viewers, some may have figured out who he was before he was revealed as a recast Jagger; the character debuted in 1992, originally portrayed by Antonio Sabato.

He was part of a gang of teenage delinquents and was the older brother of Michael “Stone” Cates,(Michael Sutton).

Although both the character and Sabato exited the show in 1995, Sabato as Jagger returned in 2008 on the spinoff “Night Shift,” this time as a police officer.

Fast forward to 2024, and Cates is back again, now as a complex FBI agent driven by a personal vendetta played by Harrington.

GH Spoilers – Adam Harrington’s Goodbye

Adam J. Harrington exited General Hospital just six months after stepping into the role of Agent John “Jagger” Cates. In a stunning and dramatic turn of events during Friday’s cliffhanger, his character was fatally shot by Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) as he walked into Sonny’s trap.

Harrington expressed his gratitude for his time on the show in several farewell posts on X (formerly Twitter), initially sharing a beautiful sunset image with the poignant message, “Good night all.” In subsequent tweets Harrington expressed, “Well @GeneralHospital, what a fantastic time it was; huge thanks to @valentinifrank, the producers, and the writers for the chance to join your universe. I loved every moment; a special mention to the amazing cast and crew, it was an honor to see the level of your talent and I will truly miss you all.”

In a follow-up, Adam Harrington said, “To the @GeneralHospital fans, it has been a true honor to be part of your lives and to feel your excitement. I’ve read every farewell message, and I’m very touched; thank you from my heart-Until we meet again … Adam.” Fans were shocked at how his onscreen end went down, one tweeting “I was clinging to the hope that this wasn’t true.

My first tweet to you was about how you made GH so much more fun; now there will be a void that no one can replace. Thank you for being yourself, a true class act – I will really miss you.”

Many more tweets from fans followed that one, such as “Adam, you will be missed-you played Jagger so well; It’s a shame your character was ruined and killed off.” More tweets came in as he replied, like, “You did an amazing job with your role-we all thought you might get in trouble for being too eager as an agent. Getting killed off like that was a bad choice; good luck with your next project.” Another user summed up what many were thinking, “What an exit-Jagger Cates was killed by Sonny at the Quartermaine boathouse??? Stone’s brother, with everyone there-where was your vest and gun?”
