General Hospital’s Nik and Ava were attracted to each other the moment they met. Ava knew that Nik was on the run and she kept quiet to save him. Ava could have called Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) at any point and turned Nik in but didn’t. Ava went to Cassadine Island with Nik and was there when Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) supposedly shot and killed him. Ava came home hell-bent on making Valentin pay until she needed his help. Ava sold out Nik and his son Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Bechtel) for a new face after she was burnt. But then again, Nik was dead so Ava owed him no loyalty.

After pretending to be dead for three years, Nik returned with revenge on his mind. Nik blamed Ava for Valentin Cassadine having his fortune and was determined to make her pay. Nik tortured Ava with the memory of her daughter Kiki Jerome (Hayley Erin). Nik tortured Ava to the point that she checked herself into a mental institution. Ava thought she was going crazy until Nik lost his ring in her room. Nik would have continued to torture Ava and lie if he hadn’t been found out. Afterward, Ava decided Nik should pay so she married him.

After acquiring the painting of Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers), General Hospital’s Ava forced Nikolas to marry her. Now Nik has gotten himself into another situation where he could lose everything. Their postnuptial agreement prohibits both parties from cheating. Neither Nik nor Ava are willing to lose the fortune that Valentin built back up. The sexual tension between Ava and Nik is palpable.
