General Hospital Spoilers: Baines’ Shallow Grave Slip – He Already Knows Brennan’s Buried?

Baines drops an eerily specific phrase while questioning Carly and Valentin, raising questions about just how much the acting WSB chief already knows.

General Hospital spoilers and updates tease that acting WSB Station Chief William Baines (Alimi Ballard) might know more about Jack Brennan’s (Chris L. McKenna) death than he lets on.

When he questioned Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) and Carly Spencer, (Laura Wright) he used the phrase, “buried in a shallow grave”!

The WSB Used To Be The Good Guys, The DVX The Bad Guys

For most of General Hospital history, the WSB used to be the good guys, while the DVX was the bad guys, although there have been some exceptions, including the Port Charles Police Department.

Longtime GH fans might remember “Mr. Big”, who turned to be Port Charles Police Chief Burt Ramsey, (Bob Hastings), while more recently District Attorney Paul Hornsby (Richard Burgi) killed several people.

But it seems lately the trend has been to make WSB agents much more bad guy, and much less good guy-it’s no longer black and white, although the late Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) was a glaring exception.

For his whole history on the show, Brennan was one of those mixed characters-many times doing bad things to get good results-under the auspices of the WSB.

He even bombed the Five Poppies Resort with drones, as he did that casino overseas, apparently not knowing Cullum was a double agent-or pretending not to!

Might William Baines Also Be A Mixed Character, Bad And Good?

As GH fans who’ve been watching lately know, Jack is buried in a shallow grave, and it’s clear that Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) and Ava Jerome (Maura West) buried him, after finding him floating in the Metro Court pool.

Baines may have just been using the term “shallow grave” in a generic sense, trying to gauge responses of guilt or innocence from Valentin and Carly.

But on the other hand, in spite of not making public Jack’s disappearance and death, Baines may already know where he’s buried-and leaving the burial scene obscured, waiting to see if a murderer returns.

Many times a murderer will return either to the scene of the crime, or to the scene where he or she attempted to dispose of the remains.

Criminals usually do make mistakes that reveal their crimes, and Drew is way too self-confident, whereas Ava is very nervous; yet those two aren’t on Baines’ radar.

Carly is the one who put Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) on Baines’ radar, and indeed, she’ll be in the hot seat and the focus of the investigation.

When questioning Carly and Valentin, Baines didn’t seem to be doing anything but weeding out suspects-but still, that phrase “shallow grave” he used to Valentin gives one pause.

Does Baines in reality know what happened to Jack Brennan-not who buried him, and not who dosed him with a sleeping pill-but know how he got in the pool?

Is he just waiting for the murderer to reveal themselves, by returning to the scene of either the crime or the grave; or is he trying to set up  Valentin?
