General Hospital spoilers tease that what many General Hospital fans feared can now be confirmed: the Wednesday, August 21 scene of Drew Cain behind closing elevator doors at GH was Billy Miller’s last air-date!
Miller originally came to GH, taking over the part of a presumed dead Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) in 2014, after fan outcry for Jason to return and “JaSam” to continue. However, Steve Burton had taken a role on the CBS soap the Young and the Restless as war vet Dylan McAvoy, so the role of Jason had to be recast or Jason would have to remain dead or presumed dead.
Jason was found in stasis in a laboratory where Jerry Jacks (Sebastian Roche) and Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) had held Dr. Robin Scorpio-Drake (Kimberly McCullough). Robin was also presumed dead after a lab explosion at General Hospital. She was being forced to develop a resurrection protocol to bring Helena’s favorite son Stavros Cassadine (Robert Kelker-Kelly) back to life.

Jerry Jacks also had a problem; polonium poisoning. She was also forced to create a cure for it, but gave it to Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) instead of Jerry. She came back to Port Charles but then left again, bound for Cassadine Island to rescue Jason. She managed to bring him back to life and the pair escaped but were separated. In the process, Jason reached Port Charles first and was run over by Ava Jerome (Maura West).
He survived, but had to have massive plastic surgery to fix his face, and his vocal cords were also damaged, which left him with a different face, voice, and amnesia! He remained “Jake Doe” until he started having flashback memories and eventually everyone including himself figured out he was Jason. This was partially because of Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) running his face through a reconstruction program and coming up with Jason’s face.
In 2017, the real Jason returned to Port Charles, having been helped by Ava Jerome to escape the Boronsky Clinic, a clinic in Russia where Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) had referred her for facial reconstruction surgery after a fire at her gallery in which she was severely burned. She felt compassion for a man who sat in a mask and was always silent, and whom she was warned not to communicate with and to stay away from. Of course, she didn’t, and helped him escape!
General Hospital Spoilers – Drew Cain On His Way Back To Afghanistan
She was hoping he was Nikolas Cassadine (most recently Nick Stabile) but no such luck. It was gradually discovered that Jason had a twin who was separated from him at birth, a former Navy Seal named Drew Cain who was also raised with Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) as a child for a few years as a toddler. This also explained Franco’s previous thinking he was related to Jason Morgan and the Quartermaines. They did turn out to be second cousins, through their mothers.
The story concludes with Franco having been implanted with Drew’s pre-2012 memories from a flash drive, with no way to get Franco’s memories back. From Franco and the real Drew talking about Franco’s Drew memories, Drew was able to get the dirty money made by Shiloh Archer (Coby Ryan McLaughlin) and another Seal, Charles “Tex” Owens.

And as the elevator doors closed, Drew was on his way to Afghanistan to take the dirty money to donate for charitable purposes. That was Billy’s last scene, although off screen he was going to divert to Andre Maddox’s (Anthony Montgomery) location to try to get help for Franco.
