General Hospital Spoilers: Brenda Barrett’s Return Overdue – Vanessa Marcil’s Big Comeback?

General Hospital (GH) spoilers suggest that Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) believes it’s high time for some drama in Port Charles. GH fans know that once upon a time, Brenda Barrett (Vanessa Marcil) lit up Sonny’s life. Some believe (as apparently Maurice believes) Sonny’s life with Carly has just gotten a bit too humdrum!

ABC General Hospital Spoilers – Sonny’s Life is Complicated

Now, GH fans know that tragedy and danger have overtaken Sonny’s life over the past year or so. Sonny’s had to deal with the threat of the evil Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) and the assassination attempts Cyrus made on his family members. (There were two of them!) GH viewers have also watched Sonny deal with the heartbreak of losing his father, Mike Corbin (Max Gail).

Of course, while everyone has watched Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) support Sonny to an extent, everyone knows Carly isn’t the most faithful of women. She’s committed adultery at least six times, with two of those occasions being with other men while married to Sonny! (Why Sonny remains with Carly is a mystery given that knowledge.)  Still, romantically speaking, in recent memory, Sonny’s life with Carly has been fairly without incident.

General Hospital Comings & Goings – Brenda Complicates Things Further

GH fans know that Brenda showing up in Port Charles just might complicate Sonny’s life even more than it currently is. While it’s obvious that Sonny loves Carly (he stayed with even after two affairs on her part), he also may still have love in his heart for Brenda. In fact, there’s a four way connection between Sonny, Carly, Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher), and Brenda. Sonny’s been married to both Brenda and Carly and so has Jax!

Should Brenda show up and try to begin a romance with either Sonny or Jax, it would surely bring more drama to General Hospital. First, there’s the fact that Sonny clearly used to love Brenda, but she pushed all his buttons. Now, some might argue that it’s the lovers who passionately fight who also passionately love, but Brenda seemed to constantly make things difficult for Sonny. Secondly, there’s no telling what Brenda’s new agenda might be. Fans might recall that Brenda once had herself tested to see if she had a hereditary mental illness. Imagine Brenda’s craziness up against Carly’s!

Finally, consider the fact that Brenda and Carly aren’t exactly best friends. Those who have been watching GH a long time know that besides having married both of the same men as Carly, Brenda also tricked Carly into thinking she slept with her son, Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell)!

General Hospital Updates & Spoilers – Brenda Makes Ratings Soar

The bottom line for Maurice Benard, and for many others is the belief that bringing back the character of Brenda to Port Charles will boost ratings. This is hard to deny since soaps are fueled by intense drama. In fact, most GH fans would be hard pressed to deny that the character dynamics that might be created would simply be explosive if Vanessa Marcil and the rest of these former GH spouses had a new storyline together.
