General Hospital Spoilers: Carly Finds Her New Career Path As Sonny’s Crime Lord Status Takes a Hit

General Hospital spoilers reveals Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) didn’t hesitate to jump in and fill Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) role in his business when he went missing in Nixon Falls.

She expected Sonny to come back and knew she needed to hold things down on the home front while he was missing in action. As Sonny’s spouse, the other members of the five families already respected Carly and expected her to know how to run things.

Likewise, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) was at her side to show her the ropes and make sure she didn’t make a misstep. Still, Carly left Sonny and her marriage behind nearly a year ago, and while she has no potential career track in mind right now, the last thing she’s expecting to have to do again is save Sonny’s organized crime empire. But that’s just what’s going to happen when their son tries to level Sonny and everything he’s worked so hard to build.

Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) has been plotting to destroy his father ever since Sonny came back to Port Charles and betrayed every member of his own family in the name of his attraction to and fondness of Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros).

Michael severed ties with Sonny and vowed to get his revenge on him by ensuring that Sonny’s business would be no more. Michael intends to take back the Corinthos name and make something good of it, but is that really what he’s doing?

Regardless of Michael’s intentions or how clean he hoped this break would be, he’s going to make a real mess of things when he lands Sonny in jail. Finally, the PCPD will have enough of what seems like credible evidence to put Sonny away for a long time. Unfortunately, Michael won’t understand when his mother is concerned about this, as though she hoped the criminal empire would last forever.

In many ways, she did. It offers their family a certain level of security and leaves them vulnerable and at risk of attack without it. Michael will realize he didn’t think about that, but it’ll be too late. Only one person can save this sinking ship now.
