General Hospital Spoilers: Charlotte Paternity Shocker – Could Nathan Be Her Father?

General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that the late Detective Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) could be the father of Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez) after all; and that could set up two separate custody battles, between Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati), Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) and Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan), and an additional one between Liesl, Nina and Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart)! There could even be a fight between Liesl and Nina, although they could probably work things out with each other.

GH viewers will recall that a few years ago, while Lulu was held captive by Stavros Cassadine (Robert Kelker-Kelly) on Cassadine Island, some of her eggs were extracted there to be fertilized with Stavros’ sperm at the orders of Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers). Stavros had become obsessed with Lulu as a new and improved version of Laura Spencer, now Laura Collins (Genie Francis) with whom he fathered Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) years ago.

Valentin’s story is that after having been in stasis, Stavros was found to be sterile and so Helena hired a woman on Cassadine Island, named Daphne (uncast character) to seduce Valentin and obtain his semen, which she did by getting him drunk, and Charlotte was created by in vitro fertilization and Claudette Beaulieu (Bree Williamson) was the surrogate. However, that story seems a little lame – when in vitro fertilization is done the semen has to be immediately captured in an airtight container because sperm die when exposed to air!

That would be a little bit difficult to do with someone who is drunk and especially in a non-clinical setting! Chances are, when Lulu and Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) broke into that doctor’s office and found the paperwork showing that Charlotte was her daughter with Valentin, he had already had it altered to show his name on it instead of the true father, which may have been Nathan!

GH Spoilers – Is Nathan West Or Griffin Munro Charlotte Cassadine’s Father?

Nathan and Claudette had gotten divorced after she had an affair with Griffin, and there had been a question as to who was the father. That of course was settled when it turned out – as far as anyone knew from Charlotte’s birth certificate and paperwork – that Valentin was the father and that Claudette was only a surrogate. Still, even that had to have happened shortly after the affair with Griffin and the breakup with Nathan; and it’s even possible that Claudette wasn’t a surrogate and she really was Charlotte’s mother, but then it wouldn’t make sense for Valentin to have Lulu as the mother on the paperwork so that part is probably right!

However, Claudette could have obtained Nathan’s semen for the in vitro fertilization and kept it frozen until it was time for the procedure. True, it could have been Griffin’s as well but it is more likely to be Nathan’s because he is not around for anyone to ask, although DNA tests could be done between James West (Kyler and Caleb Ends) and Charlotte if it comes to that!

General Hospital Spoilers – The Custody Battle Will Get Ugly

Lulu would still have rights in a custody battle over Charlotte if she is indeed her birth mother, but if Valentin’s paternity was disproven and Charlotte was proven to have been Nathan’s, then either Liesl or Nina would have rights as a blood relative. Liesl would be her grandmother while Nina is actually Nathan’s cousin, although they were raised as brother and sister. So there could be a custody battle between Lulu and Liesl and/or Nina, as well as a second custody battle with Valentin, which he would lose!
