General Hospital Spoilers: Charlotte’s Fate Hangs In The Balance – Valentin, Laura and Dante Fight For Custody

General Hospital spoilers and updates tease that in Port Charles, NY Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) and Attorney Martin Gray (Michael E. Knight) will have to revisit the plan to put a plan in place for Charlotte Cassadine’s (Scarlett Fernandez) care should something happen to Valentin. It will become much more complicated now!

General Hospital Spoilers – Valentin Cassadine Wanted Nina Reeves To Care For Charlotte Cassadine

General Hospital viewers will recall that prior to the explosion of the Floating Rib, Valentin (James Patrick Stuart)  and Martin (Michael E. Knight) had met. Valentin had just narrowly escaped death in a much smaller scale explosion himself after Alex Marick (Finola Hughes) had kidnapped him and Anna Devane. Alex stole Anna’s instant pressure cooker and made it into a bomb.

Valentin and Martin talked about redoing the custody arrangements between Valentin and Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan) to have Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) to care for Charlotte, and Valentin had cited the potentially dangerous presence of Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) in Charlotte’s life as a possible way to sue for sole custody. After all, if Valentin wasn’t able to care for her he would be around Charlotte when he visited his own son Rocco Falconeri (O’Neill Monahan). But now that Lulu is the one that something happened to, it’s a whole different ball game.

Lulu and Valentin had never discussed the care of Charlotte should something happen to one of them, because neither expected something would, especially Lulu at her younger age, assumes Valentin. Martin may remind Valentin that according to his research – which he may have done looking for dirt on Lulu in case they needed it – Lulu’s life has been in danger several times. For one, being in the extended family of Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) put Lulu in danger several times.

She was taken hostage by Stavros Cassadine (Robert Kelly-Kelker) a few years ago, not to mention the stabbing by Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom)! Valentin tells Martin he doesn’t have to remind him about the Cassadines, besides, realizing he is still half-brother on his mother’s side to that wacko Stavros gives him an upset stomach! Martin brings up the point that Lulu may have done the same thing they are trying to do because of her brushes with death and danger previously. Then, there may be a power of attorney to deal with. Did Lulu sign papers for a power of attorney should something happen to her?

That is one thing Martin will have to find out. Martin makes other points – even if Lulu didn’t sign any power of attorney or something with her wishes of who would care for Charlotte if something happened to her, there is implied custody in these cases. For one thing, Martin reminds Valentin, Laura Collins (Genie Francis) may take over Charlotte’s care with no special paperwork – she did with Spencer Cassadine (Nicolas J. Bechtel) when Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) was presumed dead.

However, Martin continues, there is a difference; Nikolas was presumed dead at the time and Spencer’s mother was already deceased. Sonny, as Spencer’s paternal uncle, would have been second in line after Laura in that case. Valentin tells Martin then the first thing they have to do is find out if Lulu had anything in place for Charlotte’s care or if she had a power of attorney to make decisions for her – otherwise, it would seem that Valentin would be next in line before Laura or Nikolas, as her father.
