She felt it was the only way to keep her baby safe from Peter August (Wes Ramsey). Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) thinks the baby belongs to him, though. When Maxie tries to get her child back, there could be a custody war.

It seems whatever plan she made to keep her baby safe was thwarted or there was some sort of obstacle. After Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) went on the run with Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), that left Maxie without an OB/GYN to switch her baby with a dead one to fool Peter.

Then, Brook Lynn came to Maxie and the two teamed up. Eventually, things spiraled out of control and Maxie was drugged by the decoy nurse. Maxie gave birth outside and handed her baby to Brook Lynn. It was a heartbreaking decision that she felt forced to make to ensure her child’s safety.

Brook Lynn came to the hospital with the baby with everyone thinking she just gave birth. Maxie was able to get a peek at her child. Then, Valentin showed up and was in awe when he saw who he thinks is his daughter.

General Hospital Spoilers – Peter August’s Alleged Death

Even though Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) shoved Peter down a flight of stairs and is presumably dead, nobody knows that. Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) will keep Finn’s secret and Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) got rid of the body. In a promo, Finn tells Maxie that she doesn’t ever have to worry about Peter bothering her again. Meanwhile, Anna is assuring everyone that she won’t stop “searching” for Peter until he is found.

Of course, nobody knows that Brook Lynn has Maxie’s baby until Peter is caught.

GH Spoilers – Mental Health Spiral Teased

General Hospital spoilers reveal that the head writer told Soap Opera Digest that Maxie won’t cope well during the summer episodes. So, that sounds like she will have a mental health struggle. It’s understandable considering everything she’s gone through. Now, someone else is raising her baby to protect her from a man nobody knows is already dead.

General Hospital Spoilers – Custody War Over Baby

When Maxie finds out that Peter is dead or if she decides that Brook Lynn needs to hand back her baby, there could be complications. Valentin will not give up the child he thinks is his daughter. Of course, this could be quickly resolved with a DNA test, but this is a soap, so don’t expect that to happen right away.

Instead, Valentin could argue that Maxie’s mental health crisis and pain of having her baby kidnapped is making her think his baby belongs to her. If this happens, it could put Brook Lynn smack in the middle. Another possibility is that Brook Lynn exits Port Charles and leaves the baby with Valentin. If Maxie can’t get ahold of her, then there is nobody to back up her claim of giving the baby to Brook Lynn, who was ever even pregnant.
