General Hospital Spoilers: Dex Is Playing Both Ends
When Evan Hofer first joined GH as Dex, a man with no last name at the boxing gym who had a resume on how to be a goon all ready for Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), we thought we were getting another Jason Morgan (Steve Burton). Would he be a man who would do anything to please Sonny, just as Jason did for decades? When he seemed to threaten Michael (Chad Duell), we thought so, but Dex and Michael surprised us.
It turns out Dex is a double agent, working in Sonny’s organization to help bring it down and getting paid heftily by Michael. Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) already knows something is up with Dex, but Sonny is willing to give the man the benefit of the doubt. This is a big mistake on Sonny’s part and Hofer loves playing this role with a twist.
Evan Hofer Was In For A Surprise
Actor Evan Hofer did not know he was going to be playing someone trying to stick it to the biggest mob name on GH, as well as one of the soap’s most popular characters. He was just happy to land the job.
“I’d actually had a few auditions for some different soaps over the years and for some different roles on General Hospital, and it just worked out this time,” Hofer said in the July 19, 2022, issue of Soap Opera Digest. “The stars aligned.”
When it worked out, Hofer was surprised by how well it worked out because he wasn’t just another henchman in Sonny’s world.
“I really just knew that [Dex] wanted to work for Sonny,” Hofer said. “And then after my first week, Frank [Valentini, executive producer] came up to me and told he’s actually working for someone else and I was like, ‘Oh, okay, great…I’ve got to start working on my double agent stuff.’ And that’s kind of how I’ve been learning about Dex.”
When Sonny learns about Dex and what he’s been doing, there’s going to be hell to pay for both him and Michael so they better watch their backs. Stay tuned to General Hospital weekdays to see how this story plays out.
Please Please Please don’t bring Wes Ramsey back as Jason Morgan!!! Jax is okay.
