General Hospital Spoilers Friday, May 22: Luke’s Traumatic Night, Behind Both Parents Deaths – 52nd Anniversary Flashback Shockers

General Hospital (GH) spoilers for Friday, May 22, tease that a special classic episode is coming up. This week’s Flashback Friday will feature the 52nd anniversary show from April 1, 2015. It’s the one where Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) returns to the old Spencer home and recalls a traumatic night in his history.

At Oak Hill, Patricia Spencer (Dee Wallace) decides it’s time to tell Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliott) and Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman) what really happened. The story’s told through flashbacks – some of them Luke’s and some of them Patricia’s.

We see Luke take himself back to that night, when his abusive father was drunk and as angry as ever. Tim Spencer (Anthony Geary) ridicules Luke over his baseball swing and slaps young Patricia (Chloe Lanier) when she tries to stand up him.

A Walk Down Memory Lane With Luke Spencer – General Hospital Updates

Lena Spencer (Laura Wright) is spotted on unconscious floor later in a flashback. She’s rushed to the hospital by Patricia, who wants Luke to stay at the house and watch out for little Bobbie. Sadly, Lena faces swelling of the brain and ultimately dies as a result of that blow to the head.

Patricia recalls how her cousin, Bill Eckert, came to help her – and they found Tim’s dead body when they arrived back at the Spencer home. In the present, Luke flashes back and tries to piece together what happened. He realizes he killed his father as Patricia continues the story at Oak Hill.

Patricia faces questions and assumptions about the cover-up story, which involved Lena dying from a burst appendix. The truth was far more complex as Luke soon recalls. Tracy goes to see Luke at the house followed by Bobbie and Patricia in her wheelchair. Luke knows he killed his father, but he’s trying to fill the rest of the blanks in.

Thanks to more flashbacks and realizations, the whole truth comes out: Luke also killed his mother. He accidentally hit Lena in the head while swinging his bat and unleashing his fury on Tim. That led to Tim taunting him after they received the news of Lena’s death. Luke reels and sobs as he wraps his head around killing both his parents.

In this flashback episode, General Hospital fans will recognize some familiar faces in different roles. Jason Thompson (Patrick Drake) portrays Dr. Steve Hardy while Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth Baldwin) takes on the part of Nurse Jessie Brewer. There’s also Ryan Carnes (Lucas Jones) as Dr. Phil Brewer, Laura Wright (Carly Corinthos) as Lena, Chloe Lanier as a young Patricia and Anthony Geary as abusive Tim.
