When Ryan Paevey left “General Hospital” as James Nathan West, it saddened many people including the fans, cast, and crew. Even after a rocky start, fans grew to love the former bartender and handyman who played the charming and likable husband of Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms). No wonder, his character has been given an emotional and powerful send-off.

No Upcoming Projects After Leaving GH

When he exited the sudser, Paevey recalled that he had no projects in the pipeline. The actor admitted that if push comes to shove, he’d be willing to try new roles and risk failing or not booking any job. After all, he could go back to working at bars and as a handyman.

Hallmark Comes To Paevey’s Rescue

Fortunately, having worked with Hallmark for a few times, he formed a good relationship with the network. With his talent and acting skills, it was a no-brainer for the network to sign him up.

Paevey said, Hallmark, has been really, really good to me.”

“It is very much like a family. I’m friends with producers here, not because ‘maybe if I befriend this person they’ll give me a job,’ but because they’re good humans and we became friends in the process of working together,” he added.

Lucky To Be Part Of General Hospital and Hallmark

The deal with Hallmark gave the actor an assurance that he was doing something good and he’s on the right track. He’s always believed that getting into the entertainment industry is a gamble and thought of Hollywood as a “snowball’s chance in hell” kind of gig.

He said he was lucky to be part of “General Hospital” and Hallmark. The “not knowing” is what he considers as the negative aspect of being an actor but he didn’t have to worry about that since he’s part of a family that’s willing to take care of him.

In the film, which also starred Elizabeth Henstridge, Paevey played the role of Nick, who inherited his family’s decorating business. As he decorates The Plaza for the holidays, he runs into Henstridge’s character, an anthropologist/sociologist/natural historian who is not a big fan of Christmas. Nick eventually manages to convince her that Christmas isn’t so bad after all.
