General Hospital spoilers tease that GH is looking to recast a doctor – could it be Lucas Jones (Ryan Carnes)?
General Hospital Recast – It Makes Sense That Dr. Lucas Jones May Be Recast
It seems to make sense that Lucas may be the one to be recast, although there has been no official word of Ryan Carnes leaving the show or wanting to leave GH. If Lucas is going to be in a coma for a long, long time, it’s understandable that the actor may be looking for greener pastures, and having a character disappear and be presumed dead for a while or in a coma for an indeterminate period of time with no onscreen time is a way that soap operas often handle such a situation.
Ryan did set up a Cameo on his Twitter account the other day – a Cameo is where fans can pay an actor to make personalized short videos as gifts, etc., or for various reasons, so it looks like he’s got some time on his hands right now! The only reason for a recast, in this case, would be if Ryan had decided to leave for lack of scene time with the soap, however, and there have been no announcements from either him or the GH showrunners. Who else could it be?
GH Recast – Could It Be Steve Webber Or Jeff Webber?
Another doctor from General Hospital that could be recast might be Dr. Steve Webber, last played by Scott Reeves. The character went to prison in 2013 for the murder of a patient in Memphis, a young man who was doing a life sentence for murder and in a coma, whom he deliberately killed so that a fourteen-year-old girl could get a transplant from him to save her life.
Scott Reeves is busy with other endeavors, so it makes a lot of sense for Dr. Steve Webber to be recast, considering the current storylines – Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) who is Steve’s half-sister on his father, Dr. Jeff Webber’s (Richard Dean Baldwin) side and their other paternal half-sister, who Steve doesn’t even know about unless Elizabeth has been writing to him in prison, Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig) who is missing and possibly dead; and Steve has a niece in Violet Barnes (Jophielle Love) he hasn’t met and perhaps doesn’t know about as well.
The family tree for the Baldwins may become more interesting as well as confusing if Steve returns because his mother is Heather Webber (Robin Mattson) – and that means not only are Elizabeth and Hayden half-sisters on his father’s side, Franco Baldwin, (Roger Howarth) Elizabeth’s husband is Steve’s half-brother on his mother’s side! Franco lost someone who was like a brother to him, the reappearance of Steve will give both him and his wife a brother! But how would they explain it to the kids?! There has been talk among fans of wanting a recast of Jeff Webber as well!
General Hospital Recast – How About Patrick Drake Or Griffin Munro?
General Hospital could certainly use a neurologist with Lucas in a coma; how about a recast Patrick Drake (Jason Thompson) or Griffin Munro (Matt Cohen)? It’s probably not going to be Griffin, though – he just recently made a visit and left again telling Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) he needed more time away from Port Charles to heal from the loss of Kiki Jerome (Hayley Erin).
GH fans will recall Griffin was a real mess when he left Port Charles! However, if GH was to bring Patrick back they would have to recast two doctors – if it is a long term role with the character living in Port Charles. Kimberly McCullough recently announced her retirement from acting, so if they were to recast Patrick, Robin Scorpio-Drake would have to be recast as well unless the recast is only for a short arc and only one of them comes for a specific storyline purpose, such as an experimental procedure on Lucas’ brain to bring him out of his coma.
If this is the purpose of recasting a doctor, unless they split up Patrick and Robin, and had only one return to Port Charles, the best bet would be on Robin to be able to bring Lucas out of his coma!
