General Hospital Spoilers: GH Preemption Update – Soap Officially On Hold Until Trial Is Over

General Hospital Spoilers: GH Preemption Update - Soap Officially On Hold Until Trial Is OverGeneral Hospital spoilers tease that new episodes of General Hospital are on hold until after the Senate impeachment trials are concluded.

The Trial Started Tuesday, January 21 And A New Episode Has Not Been Shown In The US Since Monday, January 20

The show has not been shown in the United States since Monday, January 20th although Canada did show the episode scheduled for Tuesday, January 21st because it was too short of notice to pull the episodes. While the trial continues, Canada will get reruns, or “encore episodes” but the United States will not get any episodes at all until the trial is concluded.

Canadian viewers have expressed their opinions that it is unfair to them to not have new General Hospital episodes shown because of United States television coverage of something that has nothing to do with them!

The statement on the show’s social media outlets reads as follows: “”Today’s episode of General Hospital will not air as scheduled. We will monitor the news coverage and continue to update our social channels as soon as we know when new episodes will return. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience. #GH”.

Over 1.K General Hospital fans, soap website heads, and others responded with their extreme dissatisfaction, considering that rival NBC streams their one remaining daytime drama, “Days Of Our Lives” on their website in the evening so episodes will not need to be pushed out, and now CBS has also adopted that plan for their two daytime dramas as well. ABC’s reasoning had been in a previous post, saying they did not want anyone to miss episodes that either did not have cable service with DVR, or internet access, they also would not post the episodes at a different time during the running of the trial either, like CBS has done in the past. That particular post has since been deleted.

How Long Will This Trial Last?

The trial will last a minimum of two weeks, although it could last much longer.  We are now at the end of the first week, and they are including Saturdays in the timeframe, so hopefully Mr. McConnell will bring things to the conclusion by that time, which would not entirely cut GH out of the running for February sweeps.

Stay tuned to GH, and keep checking General Hospital spoilers frequently for all the latest news, updates and developments!

ABC continually pre-emps GH, even when CBS and NBC do not pre-emp Ellen and Dr.Phil. shame on you ABC and GH for not sticking by your loyal fans. ABC can stream the DC Circus coverage instead of forcing people to watch the repetitive show of how DC politics do nothing for the American citizens. Bring back GH please. America needs less political coverage and more light hearted, fun shows on tv.

The only reason I can see that ABC is continuing to pre-empt GH and other shows for all these weeks is because of politics. They are more interested in this political circus and then they are about their viewers. Since the other channels are keeping some of their shows on during this time you are liable to lose a lot of viewership
