General Hospital Spoilers – When Will The ABC Sudser Be Off The Air In The Near Future?

During the week of November 23 – 27, 2020 General Hospital will not air new episodes for two days. That week households across the country will be celebrating Thanksgiving, perhaps in isolation but no doubt with a big turkey on the table!

The first preemption to know about occurs on November 26. On that day the show will treat fans to a repeat episode that originally aired on December 23, 2019. You may remember, and if not you will have a chance to see, that the epi was a stand-alone episode. In it, the residents of Port Charles are given the opportunity to discover the true meaning of the season via a Charles Dickens holiday twist, a kind of Port Charles Christmas Carol-themed episode.

GH Spoilers – The Show Will Be Preempted On Two Days This Month

There is a second preemption to tell you about and it also occurs this month. This time around the show will air college football on November 27, 2020. Rest assured, the show will return (barring any further preemptions!) on November 30, 2020.

The ABC sudser debuted on April 1, 1963, but its long-run has been no joke. GH is listed in Guinness World Records as the longest-running American soap opera still in production. It has the honor of being the world’s third longest-running scripted drama series still in production with the number one and two spots going to the British soaps The Archers and Coronation Street.

While we’re talking about records, GH is the longest-running serial still being produced in Hollywood, and it has the distinction of being the longest-running entertainment program in ABC history.

Fun Fact: GH holds the record for most Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Drama Series, with 13 wins.
