General Hospital Spoilers reveal Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) was taken aback as he sat across from Mayor Laura Collins (Genie Francis) and Mac Scorpio (John J. York), being invited to assume the role of Police Commissioner of the PCPD for much longer than he had anticipated.
Honestly, it seemed like Dante had been eager for Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) to return so that he could get back to doing what he really loves — being a detective.
Besides, this new power position has put additional strain on his relationship with Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard), and he was looking forward to ditching that.
Now, with no end in sight, he’s being asked to stick it out, and I have to wonder if Anna’s hiatus is going to be much more long-term than any of us realized in the end.
Dante Doubles Down
Dante has a major decision to make about whether he’ll accept the role permanently in Anna’s absence, knowing that she could return eventually, but also understanding that she may not.
The fans are rather shocked today to see GH treat Anna’s current state as something unsustainable that means she won’t be okay for a long time.
How can that possibly be predicted? We weren’t even operating as though we had any timeline for when she was going to return from an alleged WSB operation as it is. Can Dante tough this out and hold the line until Anna comes home?
Sure, but it sounds like the job would become his, and not be relinquished back to her. Where would that leave Anna’s character?
GH Spoilers Claim a Current Crisis Takes Shape
Cesar Faison (Anders Hove) is the bane of Anna’s existence, and it would seem she is under the impression that she failed to escape him yet again.
She doesn’t know where he is, and she’s petrified that he might come after her granddaughter, Emma Scorpio Drake (Bradyn Bruner). It would seem that WSB Agent Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) has really done a number on Anna. Anna first appeared on GH all the way back in 1985.
That’s a longer stretch than most actors can claim they’ve made on a hit series. Who could blame her if she decided it’s time to step away?
What Comes Next?
Even if Hughes is considering retirement, it may not be an abrupt change that lies ahead. Instead, she may choose to scale back on her appearances, sticking it out in France for a while until those charges are mitigated.
Her mental health could continue to decline, and we may truly see her become unable to assume her normal post back in Port Charles.
She might move to California to be with Robin Scorpio Drake (Kimberly McCullough) for all we know. The point is, less screentime doesn’t mean she’ll be gone tomorrow, but the timing is telling. Hughes turned 66 in October, and she may be ready for the next chapter in her own life.
Will Faison claim this one? Keep checking back with us for more GH news and spoilers, right here, every day.
