Budig has finally come forward to set the record straight on all those rumors about her returning as Hayden Barnes. Speaking to Soap Opera Digest, she made it clear that she hasn’t been asked to come back to GH, and hasn’t nixed any offers to return to the soap.

“I am getting bombarded with that question, honestly. That is not true. Listen, I love [executive producer] Frank [Valentini], and Frank and I are friends, but I haven’t been asked back since I left the show [in 2019].”

The storyline centered around Hayden’s shooting has been backburned in favor of other stories. Some of these include Nina Reeves’ (Cynthia Watros) trial, Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) alleged death, Drew Cain’s (Cameron Mathison) return as well as Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) and Sasha Gilmore’s (Sofia Mattsson) baby loss.

With that being said, there is always a chance that Budig might be asked to come back at a later date or the part might be recast.
