Karen was pivotal when it came to the drama between Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and John, plus their history together, so it’s only natural for her name to pop up during heated scenes. So, could she be making a comeback?
General Hospital – Karen Wexler Has Roots In Port Charles
GH spoilers state that Karen doesn’t only have roots in the form of John and Sonny, but she also happens to be Scott Baldwin’s (Kin Shriner) daughter.
Wexler entered GH in 1992, eventually becoming a part of the soap’s spinoff show, Port Charles, and then ended up passing away because of a car collision in 2003.
Much like many characters in soaps, Karen had a few recasts. She was last played by Marie Wilson; however, the actress who originated the role, Cari Shayne, recently spoke to SoapHub about a possible comeback.
GH Spoilers – Cari Shayne Would Be Open To A Return
Shayne tells SoabHub that, “I heard they’re talking about Karen a lot. We all know what [being in a car crash] means.”
Still, she goes on to say, “I think I would be open to returning, were the show to choose to give the ill-fated character a new lease on life. It might make sense.”
Shayne played Karen for two years, and then exited the soap. During a 2023 State of Mind episode, she told Maurice Benard she was going through a breakdown and didn’t realize it. She went on to explain that as a method actor, the character had gotten to her.
After all, her storyline was quite dark, and to get there, she had to ‘live there all the time’. She notes she left the daytime drama because she couldn’t live that way.
She took a break from soaps and the became a labor and delivery nurse. The change in career also allowed her to be at home while she raised her kids.

Jagger being on canvas is enough and a little too much. Allow the character to stay wherever she has been all these years. Not needed at all in my opinion when there are so many actors already on canvas who do not get much screen time.
