General Hospital Spoilers: Is Nicholas Chavez Returning To The Daytime Drama In 2024?

General Hospital (GH) spoilers remind fans that before he was wowing fans as Lyle Menendez in Netflix’s Monsters: The Menendez Brothers and Father Charlie in FX’s Grotesquerie, actor Nicholas Chavez resided in the land of Port Charles, playing Spencer Cassadine.

He exited the canvas on January 31 of this year, and while his hiatus was supposed to be temporary, fans are left wondering if he’ll ever return to the daytime drama.

General Hospital Spoilers – Spencer Cassadine’s History In Port Charles

Chavez entered the role of Spencer Cassadine in 2021, and dove into some very interesting storylines. One major highlight of Chavez’s run as Spencer was the romance the character had with Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali), where fans affectionately referred to the couple as ‘Sprina’.

Chavez was nominated for two Daytime Emmy awards in the Outstanding Younger Performer category during his time at GH, and he won the statue in 2022.

The Spencer Cassadine role was a legacy character, first debuting in 2006. Spencer was the offspring of Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) and Courtney Matthews (Alicia Leigh Willis).

GH Spoilers – Will Nicholas Chavez Return To The Show At Some Point

Chavez exited the role of Spencer earlier this year when his character was presumed dead after falling over a ship into France’s Seine River. To add to the drama, he was injected with a drug by his ex-girlfriend Esme Prince (Avery Pohl).

Most fans believed this was temporary and that Spencer would return at some point in 2024, very much alive so that Chavez could finish off his contract with the soap.

Sadly, he jumped on the social media platform, X, in May, stating, “I’m so appreciative of the opportunity that GH gave me, and I wouldn’t be as busy as I am professionally if it weren’t for the talented producers, writers, directors and fellow actors.”

With that being said, he didn’t rule out returning to GH completely, stating, “While there are no current plans for me to return, we are still talking very openly about future possibilities for Spencer in Port Charles.”

In late September, Chavez made it clear to TV Line that he wasn’t done with the series, also adding that “Port Charles is a crazy place. We’ll have to see what happens.”

He also supported the idea of a new actor stepping up to play Spencer, if there was a need for it.

In addition, Chavez gave GH a “shout-out” during a People Magazine interview stating that the soap changed everything about him. He acknowledged that the daytime drama was what helped kickstart his acting career and how much the opportunity changed his life.

It’s clear there’s zero bad blood between Chavez and GH, so do you think Spencer could return to Port Charles one day? Leave your thoughts in the comment section. Out of all of the returns and new faces I think I speak for many when I say we’d trade them all for Chavez returning as Spencer! I can imagine now that without it leaking out that at the end of the show soon hopefully, we get to see Chavez in a stranded scenario or something and then you’ll have viewers at home jumping up from their seats and looking forward to the next show. I knew, as others did, that Chavez was going places. Not only is he handsome as heck, he’s extremely talented and puts everything in his work.. or as he puts it… Art. You are truly missed and could possibly save GH from demise, Nicolas Chavez! ❤️
