General Hospital Spoilers: Is Sonny Trying To Protect Ava From Agent Cates — Or Is It The Other Way Around?

General Hospital spoilers claim Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) showed up at the Jerome Gallery hoping to convince Ava Jerome (Maura West) to come with him for her own safety. But there was little leverage to hold over Ava’s head, even though she is admittedly a bit afraid of FBI Special Agent John ‘Jagger’ Cates (Adam Harrington).

Sonny’s claims that Jagger wants to kill Ava weren’t totally unfounded. Ava could see how that might be true, but she knows for certain how Sonny feels about her, and she doesn’t trust him enough to believe that he wants to protect her now. Was that a mistake?

General Hospital Spoilers — Sonny Corinthos Isn’t Only In This To Protect Ava Jerome

Sonny and Ava have an awfully sordid history that makes it hard for them to trust one another. It was just days ago that Sonny believed Ava was responsible for causing Kristina Corinthos Davis (Kate Mansi) to go through a third story window and fall into the Metro Court pool, resulting in the death of the baby she was carrying.

While there are no signs that Sonny has reversed his line of thinking on that matter, he’s not going to let Jagger use Ava to get to him either — even if that means protecting Ava so she can tell the authorities the truth about what this FBI agent has been up to. Will she though?

GH Spoilers – Leak Jagger Cates Has His Own Agenda

Jagger most certainly is out to get Sonny, and Ava can see clear as day that he is sidestepping the law to reach it.

In Jagger’s book, the ends will justify the means if he can make Sonny pay — by death or prosecution — for his role in Michael ‘Stone’ Cates’ (Michael Sutton) downward spiral and subsequent death so many years ago.

Jagger has been holding onto his pain and animosity against Sonny ever since, and he’s finally come to collect the debt he believes Sonny owes him. If he has to use Ava and strongarm her into perjuring herself to get it done, so be it.

General Hospital Spoilers — Is There Anyone Else Who Can Help?

Before Jagger started to behave so erratically and angrily about Sonny in the last week or so, Ava was confident in trusting him. She felt he was her strongest ally.

Besides, what harm could come of aligning herself with a federal agent who seemed to not see the bad side of her?

But the more he pressed her to go outside of her comfort zone with the law, the more she started to understand this was all about helping himself, not so much about helping her with her custody case. If she can’t trust Jagger, and she can’t trust Sonny, who can Ava trust?

With Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) missing in action, and not a friend to call upon, Ava may be on her own. Stay tuned for more GH news and spoilers to see how this plays out.
