General Hospital Spoilers: Is There Friction Between Kelly Monaco & Steve Burton, Outside Of Storylines?

General Hospital (GH) spoilers note that while there are many fans out there who would love to see Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) reunite, it just may not be in the cards.

While actors Burton and Monaco have worked with each other on the soap, on and off, for decades now, there has been a buzz online that the two don’t have the best of relationship when the cameras stop rolling.

General Hospital Spoilers – Kelly Monaco Sets The Record Straight

In January 2021, Kelly Monaco hopped on X, then known as Twitter, to shut down the rumors that she and Steve Burton weren’t on good terms after a fan posted a podcast clip that suggested so. Monaco tweeted the speculation was “bull$h!t”.

Meanwhile, some months after Monaco posted on X, Burton shared his respect for Kelly during a Soap Opera Digest (SOD) interview in July 2021. He notes in SOD that “everyone knows” the respect he has for Monaco, adding that the two worked together every day for about eight years.

He adds that they “created something awesome” and there’s no doubt about it (referring to their JaSam romance).

Still, Burton isn’t the only one sharing their admiration in interviews, as Monaco talked about Steve during a SOD interview, circa October 2023.

She notes that with Burton their “natural chemistry” as actors translates well on screen, adding that “everyone” (writers, producers, directors, and actors) worked together to form the unconditional love shared between Jason and Sam. She also stated how she felt that JaSam should end up together.

With that being said, fans can’t help but notice that despite the epic love story between Jason and Sam, they haven’t gotten too many steamy scenes together, aside from being intimate on their honeymoon.

Monaco noted during a 2011 Dirty Soap interview (via The General Hospital Wub Tub) that this has to do with Steve’s stance in life and belief system. She pointed out that JaSam remains a high-rated couple even without the love scenes; she’s not wrong!
