General Hospital spoilers: Jacklyn Zeman Dead
The soap’s executive producer, Frank Valentini, posted the news on Twitter: “On behalf of our General Hospital family I am heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Jackie Zeman. Just like her character, the legendary Bobbie Spencer, she was a bright light and true professional that brought so much positive energy with her to work.”

In a second post he added: “Jackie will be missed, but her positive spirit will always live on with our cast and crew. We send our heartfelt sympathy to her loved ones, friends and family, especially her daughters, Cassidy and Lacey.”

Fans were shocked and began to pour out their emotions on social media: “This is so heartbreaking” tweeted woodstockdad. “I’ve loved her since she was Lana McClain [on One Life to Live]. I feel like we grew up together.”

Zeman earned four Daytime Emmy nominations for her portrayal of the complicated nurse with a heart of gold. She was involved in one of the most heartbreaking soap plots ever, that of her young daughter dying in a bus crash. Her heart was donated to her sick cousin Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) and the scenes involving her death are the stuff of soap legend.
The scene was included in this year’s Nurses Ball which paid tribute to Bobbie Spencer who devoted her life to GH.
Zeman was born on March 6, 1953, in New Jersey. She is survived by her daughters Cassidy and Lacey, and her grandchildren, Kennedy and Decker.
There is no word yet as to cause of Zeman’s death nor how the show will handle Zeman’s passing.

Zeman’s portrayal of Bobbie Spencer was the second time she portrayed a character named Bobbie. In 1976, she portrayed a woman named Bobbi on the soap opera The Edge of Night.
That same year she played the role of Lana on ABC’s One Life to Live before becoming the one and only hooker-turned-nurse Bobbie Spencer, the sister of soap legend Luke Spencer portrayed by Anthony Geary.
