General Hospital spoilers reveal that Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) is likely up to her old tricks in Port Charles—at least her loving, albeit wary family suspects so!
It’s been a while since the Quartermaine clan, and fans last saw this indomitable force of nature. When she strolled back into the mansion last month like she owned the place (a source of endless contention) she had been gone since 2017.
General Hospital Spoilers – Who is Tracy Quartermaine?
If you’re new to the soap, or just don’t have the pleasure of knowing what a soap legend Tracy is, we have a refresher course for you.
Jane Elliot debuted as the entitled, spoiled brat of Lila and Edward back in 1978. Since that time she’s had her share of drama and trauma, including finding out that her son was involved with her dreaded sister-in-law.
For many fans, one of the most memorable, incredible soap scenes of all time belongs to Tracy and saw her withholding Edward’s lifesaving heart medication (definitely worth a look-up on YouTube). At the time it was quite brazen for a child to actually consider letting her parent die in order to get her way. Edward clutched and moaned and even asked for his pills, while Tracy rolled her eyes! Yes, she withheld the medicine, and for that she ex-communicated.
GH spoilers – Tracy wasn’t gone for long
As you can guess by her most recent return, she was eventually forgiven and went on to form a family of her own. Her two sons have also had their share of heartache and drama, and one of them, Ned (Wally Kurth), is on the canvas now, wrangling with a few dilemmas. First and foremost, it appears he may soon go up against his cousin Michael (Chad Duell) for ELQ.
Ned’s daughter Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) is also back in town, and she loves to yank Tracy’s chain by calling her, Granny!

Around the turn of the century, Tracy made an unholy alliance with a fellow of similarly dubious character, Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary).
Down the road, Tracy encountered trouble both holding on to Luke and ELQ. She is a savvy businesswoman but not so smart when it comes to men.
After breaking up with Luke she took up with ex Paul Hornsby. Too bad he had turned into a serial killer without her knowledge! While he was busy killing, she discovered she had brain cancer. Tracy has never met a fight she doesn’t like, and she dispatched the disease like the fierce warrior she is.
It was widely suspected that Tracy returned in order to take back control of ELQ. Apparently, this is not the case, as she has revealed that indeed someone is trying to get control of the company but it is not her. Is she telling the truth, or is her nose growing? Be sure to tune in and find out!
