Is Kate Mansi Returning?

Kate, who was best known for her role as Kristina Davis on the hit ABC soap, announced that she would be leaving Port Charles back in June.

And of course, the daytime television world was left in shock over her departure, as no one saw this coming.

According to People magazine though, it looks like she’s just landed a new role outside of the daytime television industry.

Kate will be playing in the Tony-Award winning play Proof, which is her first acting role ever since she left General Hospital earlier this year.

Per the site, Proof begins performances Sept. 27 in Tucson before moving to the Tempe/Phoenix area Oct. 24.

“Proof has held profound meaning for Kate since she auditioned for a conservatory at 19 with Catherine’s monologue,” the theater company says in a post on social media. “Conversations about the play with her grandmother, Honey, gave them a shared language for mental differences.”

But here’s the thing: Kate’s new role is only a short-term one, which has a lot of people wondering if this means she would be willing to go back to General Hospital once it’s all done.

Not only that, but the GH has not announced a Kristina recast, which keeps the door open for Kate’s return, should she want to come back.

That’s why a lot of fans think that – just like so many soap stars before her – Kate might end up coming back to the daytime television world. And if she doesn’t make her way back to General Hospital, she could easily go back to her old stomping grounds at Days of Our Lives.
