She played Robin Scorpio for many years. Since leaving GH fulltime, McCullough has become a respected television director with credits including Pretty Little Liars, All About the Washingtons, Fuller House, The Connors, One Day At a Time, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, and The Bold Type.
In an interview with ABC Soaps In Depth, Kimberly talked about the benefits of being a soap opera actress and how it has helped her juggle several projects at once.
“It’s funny because when I am being interviewed for a job, I’m often told, we don’t have a big budget or our schedules are crazy- we shoot really fast. I always politely look at them and say, ‘Mmhmm cool! Soap operas shoot 160 pages per day. Like I got this. I know tricks to get things done quickly.’”
General Hospital Spoilers — McCullough On working with Ethan Parsons Again
Kimberly recently directed an episode of Roswell, New Mexico. The series airs on CW and is a reimagined concept of the original show that was home to UPN and The WB.
One of the show’s stars if Nathan Parsons, who is a GH alum. He played the role of Ethan Lovett on contract from 2009-2012, then appearing for several guest appearances in 2013 and 2015.
The talented directed said this of working with Parsons again,” It was like hanging out w2ith an old friend. But he was super respectful of my choices and my position there. And he was just lovely.”
“I’m told that my style of directing is very layered, like a shot within a shot within a shot. Meaning, I try to incorporate a lot… I think that is because of my dance background. It’s like choreographing the camera,” Kimberly explained.
The show also stars Tyler Blackburn, Michael Trevino, Trevor St. John, and Lily Crowles. Roswell, New Mexico returns next week for an all-new season on CW.
