General Hospital spoilers and updates tease Laura Collins (Genie Francis) will confront Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner); why did he defend Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober)? Laura doesn’t believe Cyrus is no longer a danger, so why did Scott help him get released and inflicted on the public?
General Hospital Spoilers – The Doctor Testified
Scott tells Laura that the doctor at the hearing, Dr. Austin Gatlin-Holt (Roger Howarth) testified that Cyrus was no longer a danger to others physically.
The argument was for a compassionate release, because of Cyrus’ heart attack behind bars, which Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) saved his life from.
Cyrus had coded and wouldn’t survive another experience like that, no longer being a strong and healthy man-plus Warden Ellen Garten (Diahnna Nicole Baxter) testified in his behalf.
How is anyone going to argue with an outgoing warden who should know if Cyrus was a threat or a danger to others?
Laura did visit with Cyrus when she learned he was being released and although was glad he survived, she didn’t think he should have been released.
GH Spoilers – Cyrus Renault Could Have Been Transferred
Cyrus surely could have qualified for transfer to a prison more equipped to deal with an older and less healthy population, one with a good infirmary onsite. Laura is mystified by the fact that Austin, a doctor at GH would go to such lengths to prove Cyrus was no longer a threat to society.
He’s been around Port Charles long enough to know what Cyrus was capable of, and that he usually uses henchmen to achieve his criminal goals. She was surprised that Cyrus had Martin Gray (Michael E. Knight) give away his money to charity-meaning Martin had full responsibility to pay for their mother’s care!
Laura simply isn’t buying Cyrus’ story and is surprised that Scott did-who paid him to represent him if Cyrus has no money, and she knows Scott doesn’t do pro bono!
General Hospital Spoilers – Austin Gatlin-Holt Retained Scott Baldwin?
Laura’s even more shocked to find out Austin was the one who retained Scott and paid Cyrus’ legal fees-something doesn’t add up here, she doesn’t think.
All roads seem to point to Austin being in some kind of cahoots with Cyrus, and she can’t figure out where they started-Austin is saying he felt sorry for him?
Still, she’s very disappointed in her first love Scotty for taking on the case of getting Cyrus sprung from Pentonville-she knows Lee Baldwin (Peter Hansen) wouldn’t have approved!
That’s an ouch for Scott, but at least he got a good retainer and he couldn’t argue with a doctor and an outgoing warden who said Cyrus deserved compassionate release. But he does agree with Laura, that Cyrus’ release was agreed to far too easily-Scott didn’t have to argue at all!
