General Hospital (GH) fans love their show and when rumors about casting changes get started, social media lights up. Hugely popular Laura Wright (Carly Spencer) has been the subject of departure rumors recently and here’s what she had to say about the rampant speculation.

When a fan posted a Facebook screenshot on X of Laura Wright with the words “Big Casting Shakeup, Carly Out of GH? Laura Wright Drops Hints” fans went bonkers. The OP captioned it with “Why [do] you people lie? Let’s ask the woman herself. Hey @lldubs, is this true?”
Wright responded: “NOT TRUE.”

In May a fan posted on X “Expect a very very popular and beloved actress to possibly be out this year. I’d be shocked if the original path doesn’t go to plan. #GH.” and this could have ignited the current round of speculation.

In January Brighton Hertford played BJ Jones as a ghost angel, and this month Monsters and Critics reported that three cast members were rumored to be leaving: Gregory Harrison (Gregory Chase), Michael Easton (Hamilton Finn), and Maura West (Ava Jerome).

GH Spoilers – Laura Wright Plays Carly Spencer

Back in February 2022, Wright retweeted this post: “@lldubs are you leaving GH????” Her response was, “Nope. People love to start rumors.”

In October 2023, she wrote on X, “Not sure how these crazy rumors get started, but heck no, I’m not going anywhere. I’ll stay as long as you guys will have me. !!! #CarlysWorld!!! @GeneralHospital #GHBaby ❤️.”

Rumors of cast changes are nothing new and surface with regularity. But when an actress of Wright’s magnitude is the subject, fans sit up and take notice. Gregory Harrison is off the canvas as of this month, because his character died of ALS, so that departure was a no-brainer.

For now Carly seems to be a solid presence in Port Charles. She has tons going on, from trying to take down Pikeman singlehandedly, to dealing with Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) latest instability.

She is back running the Metro Court and has several kids to tend to. For now Wright’s status looks to be secure.
