General Hospital Spoilers – Marcus Taggert’s Arrival

Marcus Taggert arrived in Port Charles in 1996 with a grudge against Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Bernand). Marcus was given a job to work on the police force at PCPD, with the PCPD unaware that he was there to take down Sonny. Marcus grew up in Brooklyn and his greatest mentor was police officer Deke Woods, Sonny’s step-father.

Marcus was a reformed troublemaker who had become a police officer to follow in his mentor’s footsteps. When Deke was shot and killed, Marcus believed Sonny was the culprit and vowed to take him down. Sonny was not the murderer, Joe Scully (Robert Miano) was, but Marcus refused to believe it.

Taggert and Sonny’s lives would soon become more intertwined than just as enemies. Taggert created a friendship with Lily Riviera-Corinthos (Lilly Melgar), Sonny’s wife at the time. When she died from a tragic car explosion, Taggert took it upon himself to mentor her son, Juan Santiago (Michael Saucedo). Lily had given Juan up for adoption and she had died before he came to Port Charles. Juan came to Port Charles searching for his birth mother but was too late. Taggert felt the need to take him in as Deke had done for him when he was a troubled teenager. Taggert also dated an ex of Sonny’s, Hannah Scott (Lisa Vultaggio), for a short period of time.
