General Hospital spoilers indicate that Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) often mentors younger actors on the show. However, Maurice told one actor not to become back to the show, who was it, and why?

General Hospital Spoilers – Maurice Benard Had Higher Hopes For His Co-Star

General Hospital spoilers reveal that Maurice says that sometimes it might sound funny to tell a friend to not come back. However, Maurice goes on to say that in the first episode of his “State of Mind” podcast of 2023, with Sarah Joy Brown, who played Carly Corinthos and later Claudia Corinthos, he told a star not to return.

Maurice admits that he chose to tell Bryan Craig (Morgan Corinthos) not to return to GH. During the podcast, Maurice Told Sarah “When you’re as good as you and him — ’cause I think he’s a phenomenal actor — I kept telling him, ‘Don’t go back to the soap, Talent will be rewarded eventually.’” So far, Craig has listened to his onscreen dad and not returned.

GH Spoilers – Brian Craig Left In 2016

Bryan left General Hospital in 2016 when Morgan was killed by a bomb planted in Julian Jerome’s (ex-William de Vry) car. Maurice says that Bryan was tempted to return to GH at certain points. Maurice explained, “Bryan would call me when he’d run out of money.” And Benard would be like, ‘“Don’t, don’t, don’t’” come back. Craig is currently on Freeform’s Good Trouble.

Benard has encouraged other actors to spread their wings but he doesn’t champion everyone. “I won’t say [go] to people who aren’t that good,” Maurice confessed. He was quick to note that he has no psychic abilities. “The guy who’s not as good could break and make some big movie. He’s not that good, and he’s still making big movies.”

General Hospital Spoilers – Maurice Benard Stands By Talent

Maurice doesn’t give everyone his seal of approval. Maurice says she stands by talent. Maurice has mentored actors on General Hospital and has for years. Maurice has been supportive of Steve Burton (ex-Jason Morgan), Chad Duell (Michael Corinthos), and others. However, Maurice believes that some actors are destined for bigger and better things.

As much as Maurice and his co-star Laura Wright (Carly Spencer) loved having Bryan as their onscreen son, either actor wanted Morgan to be recast. Bryan could have returned several times and brought Morgan back to Port Charles but the character has remained dead instead. Will Benard ever be open to Bryan coming back and resurrecting Morgan?
