General Hospital Spoilers -True To Reality
General Hospital’s 77 years old Max and the writing staff wanted to make sure this story was true to life. Unfortunately, or fortunately, in a way, the fact that a pandemic shut down production gave fans a few extra months of the story. Mike would have probably died over the summer, June or July 2020, if production had not shut down due to COVID-19.
However, fans have praised the actors for playing this show so close to reality. Anyone who has lost someone to Alzheimer’s or any other debilitating disease can agree that Max was amazing in his portrayal. Max has been so good in his portrayal that he won a Daytime Emmy in 2019 for his role as Mike. After wrapping up his run on GH, he should certainly be in the running for another Emmy next year.
GH Spoilers – Cheers and Tears
Sonny fans have wanted him to mend fences with his father for years. The General Hospital mob boss may have been unlikable to some but almost every GH fan could feel sorry for the abandoned and abused little boy. Sonny’s stepfather was an abusive cop who beat both Sonny and his mother.
Sonny eventually became responsible for his stepfather’s death when he was befriended by Joe Scully (Robert Miano). Sonny had a chip on his should a mile wide and Mike’s gambling addiction didn’t help. Watching Sonny realize that Mike had no control over his addiction was an amazing thing. Max then tore fans apart with his portrayal of a man losing control of reality. Both Max and Maurice had fans in tears throughout this story. Max did not miss a beat when showing us the level of mental deterioration associated with this disease. Hopefully, Max continues acting long into the future, the man has an amazing talent.
Barney Miller’s Stan Wojciehowicz was a very different character than General Hospital’s Mike. Mike has certainly allowed Max to show off his acting chops and leave GH fans wanting more. Hopefully, ABC will find another role that is worthy of Max’s talent again soon.
