His mother, Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) accompanied him to Germany to the clinic where he is being treated for his severe injuries sustained from the fire that erupted from an explosion at his father, Sonny Corinthos’s (Maurice Bernard) penthouse.
We don’t know yet how long it will take Michael to recover, but one thing is for certain, Michael will be back on the canvas someday and it’s just a matter of time.
If Chad Duell chooses not to return to the role when it is decided that it’s time for Michael to come back to Port Charles, there are plenty of other actors that could take on the pivotal role.
Potential Michael Recasts
RECAST OPTION #1 Robert Adamson
Robert Adamson, who played Noah Newman on Y&R, has filled in for Chad Duell occasionally the last couple years, and plays the role extremely well.

Viewers have praised his take on the role, and he would be a great fit for the part. Not to mention, he has played the role before so this would be an easy transition and a fantastic option.
RECAST OPTION #2 Tanner Novlan
Although Tanner Novlan currently appears on the B&B as Finn, he would also be a great fit and is around the same age as Michael would be.
The issue would be his contract with B&B. Actors swapping soaps is nothing new, and Novlan could get a great offer and come on board the Michael recast.
RECAST OPTION #3 Drew Garrett

Drew Garrett played the role of Michael from 2009-2010 and received a Daytime Emmy nomination for his work. His work was widely praised, but Garrett decided to leave to pursue other projects.
The fact that he played the role before is quite significant, and he could definitely jump back in if he is available. He has packed quite an acting resume, so scoring him back would be a huge win for GH.
Michael Corinthos Will Be Back
Michael has a long recovery ahead in Germany, but sources speculate that he could be back on the canvas sometime this year. Nobody wants him off the canvas for too long, so Michael’s recovery won’t last forever.
The fall would be a perfect time for Michael to come back to Port Charles. Chad Duell would be welcomed back in a heartbeat, and the door was left opened for him to return when he is ready. If Duell opts not to return, Adamson, Novlan and Garrett are also great contenders for the role as well.

I really hate that Charles Mesure is out.. I really liked him and Carly together. I hope Chad returns as Michael I would love for the one who played Morgan to come back as well. I just wish Sasha and Cody had worked out. They were good together. I’ve been reading about 1st cousins marrying and it has worked out fine for most of them.. Anyway it is a soap and what the writers decide to be, will be. lol
I hope Chad Duell comes back soon miss him already.

Drew Garrett didn’t leave to pursue other projects, he was let go because they wanted a different actor for Michael’s prison storyline.
