General Hospital (GH) spoilers revealed that after length arguments with Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell), Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) and Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson), Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier) still refused to sign off on surgery for her son.

As GH viewers know by now, little Wiley Cooper-Jones (Erik and Theo Olson) was revealed to have a small hole in his heart, which Monica Quartermaine assured Michael was a relatively easy problem to repair. After all, Michael himself had the same issue when he was a toddler, had the same surgery, and came out on the other side better off.

Of course, GH fans expected Nelle to put up a fight if for no other reason than to be contrary. Her entire modus operandi for a very long time has been to try her best to stick it to Michael and his family in any way she possibly can. That has included using her own son (and now her son’s health) to do so.

It was no surprise then that Nelle made every argument she could think of for why Wiley didn’t need surgery. First, she asked Michael what he had done to their son that he should now be in the hospital. (As if Michael would purposely harm Wiley.) Then she went on a rampage about the surgery was merely elective and therefore entirely unnecessary. Nelle then meandered down a bunch of different rabbit holes, including the need to get a second opinion, doctors getting kickbacks for recommending surgery, and a host of other reasons why Wiley’s surgery simply wasn’t necessary.

GH fans may have actually cringed listening to Nelle’s wacko arguments and line of reasoning!

GH Spoilers – Michael Corinthos Practically Begs Nelle Benson

Like any concerned father, Michael wasn’t having any of what Nelle was dishing. From Michael’s point of view, he is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure the overall health of Wiley. Taking into account Monica’s expertise, Michael felt that fixing the hole in Wiley’s heart now would ultimately give Wiley a better quality of life, for the rest of his life.

GH fans know, however, that Michael’s pleading will most likely fall on deaf ears.

General Hospital Spoilers – Nelle Benson’s Obstinacy Backfires

While Nelle believes that she has the legal advantage since family courts normally favor the mother, the tables might actually turn on her. GH viewers might consider the possibility that should Wiley’s condition worsen and he still isn’t allowed surgery because of Nelle’s obstinacy, a judge would most certainly listen to testimony from medical professionals.

Imagine what might happen if those who work with Monica were willing to testify as to which of Wiley’s parents cared enough to do everything possible to improve the toddler’s health. Then imagine that their testimony indicated Nelle didn’t help her son. In fact, she hurt his chances for survival!

The question now is whether Nelle herself will reason through this very scenario and if she does, whether her heart might soften. No doubt, if it does, GH fans might be willing to bet that it’s only so Nelle can retain whatever legal advantage she thinks she has.
