General Hospital Spoilers: Nina At A Crossroads – Can Crimson Survive Without Maxie?

AMP in the post

General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) may be in for quite a difficult time in the near future. As viewers know, Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) just resigned from Crimson after being denied a raise. Maxie believed that all of her work at the magazine was underappreciated. And although Nina was able to secure a brand new title and more responsibility for Maxie, there was no room in the budget to give Maxie any kind of pay increase. So Maxie decided to go elsewhere, and has accepted a position at Deception working with Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) and Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson).

Nina has relied on Maxie from the very beginning.

As Nina recently admitted, she knew nothing about the fashion industry when she took over Crimson. Maxie has taught Nina everything about the ins and outs of Crimson. But has she learned enough to run the magazine by herself. There are several things that point to this becoming a disaster.

Nina’s life has a tendency to blow up every few months or so

As Maxie recently noted, Nina’s life has a tendency to blow up every six months or so, and when that happens, she usually has to step away from the magazine. In the past, this has worked out, mostly because Maxie has always stepped up and taken over so seamlessly that everything always came together even though many times, Nina was nowhere to be found. Nina has had two aborted weddings to Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) in less than a year and both times, the magazine came out as scheduled because of Maxie.

Maxie has the big ideas

Last year, when Ava Jerome (Maura West) was trying to rebuild her life after everything that had happened with Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom), it was Maxie’s idea to do a feature article on Ava. Nina, because of her personal history with Ava, was reluctant. But Maxie was persistent and finally Nina relented and the issue was a big success. Similarly, Maxie came up with the idea for Crimson to partnership with Deception, which would have also likely been a huge success.

Maxie has the connections!

Maxie has been with Crimson since it started. She has built working relationships with advertisers, photographers, models and everyone that Crimson works with on a regular basis. Nina herself hasn’t built those connections, so it may be more difficult to get everyone to work together in the best interest of Crimson!

Difficult but maybe not impossible!

Perhaps Maxie leaving will be good for Nina. She will have to make some huge changes in the way she runs the magazine, but in the end, she may be better for it. It won’t be the same with Maxie gone, but Nina may just come into her own and realize her own strengths, if she can get through the first few weeks.

What do you think?

Can Nina successfully run Crimson without Maxie there? Will the magazine fall apart or will Nina continue to make it a success? Only time will tell, so stay tuned to General Hospital airing weekdays on ABC. And don’t forget to check back here regularly for all your General Hospital news, information and spoilers!
