However, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) wishes he would scream it from the rooftops — every day, apparently. It seems like just as soon as Sonny gets done reassuring her that she’s the only one he wants, she’s right back to worrying she’s about to lose his interest.

When Nina was married to Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart), she was never concerned that he didn’t really love her or longed to be with anyone else. Maybe it was the passion with which he initially chased her down — the same woo he’s using up on Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) now — but she never doubted his commitment to her.
Nina has always held her own and known she was a formidable force to be reckoned with. What happened that made her son weak and insecure? It seems as though she’s really done herself in comparing herself to Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) all the time, and she’s grown worried Sonny might be doing the same thing.

Nina has slowly but surely tried to secure her place in Sonny’s life. First, she became his girlfriend and they took things slow, but that wasn’t enough. She needed more. Gifts, constant affection, and repeated reassurance that Sonny was right where he wanted to be wouldn’t fit the bill. When Sonny stood up to Carly and told her Nina was going to undoubtedly be around their daughter, Nina rejoiced. Still, the euphoria stemming from that moment wore off quickly. Even as Nina waited for Sonny to return home as she accompanied his daughter and her nanny, she was feeling less than certain about whether she really fit in there.

When Nina realizes she’s not having much luck finding her happy place in Sonny’s personal life she might try to borrow a page from Carly’s book. As his wife for many years, Carly got to be very involved in Sonny’s business, relative to Nina’s current zero-involvement. Carly knows all of Sonny’s associates and many of the details about how his organized crime business operates, which is obvious given that she ran it in his absence.
As Nina tries to dig into his business and starts asking questions, Sonny is going to push her away. He will be kind about it, but when she continues to push, he might ramp up his attitude when he snaps back. Will this make Nina feel even more insecure in her relationship with him as she realizes he’s comfortable with Carly being a part of that area of his life but not Nina?
