General Hospital Spoilers – Nelle Benson Is One Stubborn Woman
As General Hospital viewers know, Nelle is one stubborn woman and will do nearly anything to get her own way. She took an assistant job with Nina, but wanted to practically run Crimson Magazine like Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) did, and she actually had to come in applying for Maxie’s job but Nina turned her down for it, telling her she did not have nearly enough experience. She did, however, give her the job of an assistant – which is basically the same thing as a receptionist with light duties such as typing correspondence, answering phones and basically being what many years ago was frequently called “a girl Friday”.
Nelle will be taking care of any overflow that is not really complicated or gives her any looks or access into any confidential information such as contracts, financial documents or spreadsheets and the like. Nelle accepted the position, after Nina decided to offer it to her with ulterior motives – in order to be able to keep an eye on her and report back to Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) or Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) any information that would help Michael gain sole custody of his and Nelle’s baby, Wiley Corinthos (Theodore and Erik Olson).
Nelle would have rather had the more prestigious and undoubtedly better paying job that Maxie had vacated, but she accepted the “lowly” assistant position after Nina asked her if she was trying to look better for family court! Nelle has not yet picked up on that Nina had any ulterior motives in hiring Nelle, but perhaps Nelle has some ulterior motives of her own for wanting Maxie’s job – perhaps thinking she was going to get some dirt on Sasha Gilmore, (Sofia Mattsson) Michael’s girlfriend by spying on Nina’s conversations? Nelle is not in the loop about Nina’s current relationship with Sasha – enough time has elapsed that Nina can at least be civil with Sasha.
GH Spoilers – Nina Reeves Gets In An Argument With Nelle Benson Over What Is Best For Wiley Corinthos
If Nina is playing her part well enough with Nelle, pretending to be her friend and perhaps even a motherly influence, Nelle may confide in her about how upset she is that someone cut into her “precious toddler” without her permission and probably told the whole story that someone – probably Carly – had locked her out on the roof of General Hospital all night on a cold night, and forged her signature on parental consent forms that had mysteriously disappeared. Nina will act concerned for Nelle’s experience and for Nelle herself, and ask her, as any mother would, what was wrong with Wiley and why he was in need of an operation.
Nelle will explain that it was an elective operation, meaning it would not have had to be done, and could have caused more harm than good on such a young child. Nina will likely probe further, and ask what the condition was that prompted the operation and Nelle will tell her about the congenital birth defect of a small hole in his heart. Where the conflict will come in is when Nina gets a little too emotionally involved in trying to make this situation a teaching moment for Nelle about how a mother with a child in that situation SHOULD respond, and Nelle won’t budge on her position, even though “the damage” has already been done as far as Nelle is concerned.
Nina will try to get Nelle to change her position and try to reason with her that this operation was to avoid future more dangerous problems with Wiley’s heart, as Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) also tried to explain to Nelle before Carly was forced to lock Nelle out on the roof and forge her signature, but Nelle won’t budge! Nina can easily see through Nelle – as everyone else did – that her argument was not about what would be Wiley’s best interest, but about Nelle keeping control of a situation!
