As viewers know, Sam has agreed to be a liver donor for the ailing Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havans). Although doctors have warned Lulu’s family that Lulu most likely won’t survive the surgery, Sam opted to go through with her donation. She checked in to General Hospital, for what would likely be the last time ever.
General Hospital Spoilers – Sam McCall Gave Instructions To Jason Morgan and Drew Quartermaine
Both Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison) have fathered a child with Sam. So, Sam gathered Jason and Drew together at the Quartermaine mansion and asked if the kids could stay there while she recovered.
She also asked both men to spend as much time with the kids as they can and to try to get along while doing so. Both Jason and Drew agreed. Then it was time for Sam to check into the hospital because the surgery would be the following day.

Once she was checked in to the hospital, she thanked Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) for taking such good care of her. From there, Sam’s friends and family showed up to wish her well and to thank her for her noble sacrifice.
From Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) and Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) to Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zomprogna), Sam became quite emotional as did everyone around her. There’s a very good reason for that.
This wasn’t just the characters saying goodbye to each other, but Monaco’s fellow actors doing the same. Because as we know, Sam isn’t going to leave the hospital alive.
General Hospital Spoilers – Kelly Monaco Was Let Go From General Hospital
Much has been said these last few weeks about the fact that TPTB decided to let Monaco go, and as a result, the character of Sam was set to die. We are seeing that play out now. Even knowing that her days are numbered, Monaco has been given an amazing performance.
While Sam has no idea what her fate is, Monaco and her fellow actors do. They are putting everything into their final scenes, and it’s been an incredibly sad week. Watching Sam being wheeled into surgery felt like the end of an era.
