General Hospital (GH) spoilers note that recasts are a thing in the land of Port Charles – just like any other daytime drama!
Still, when Soap Opera Digest (SOD) recently asked some of our favorite GH actresses about the advice they’d give someone who was stepping into a recast role, their answers brought home similar messages.
General Hospital Spoilers – Laura Wright’s Advice For Recasts
GH spoilers note that Laura Wright knows a thing or two about recasts. While it seems like she has been in the Carly Spencer role “forever” she was Carly recast #5, taking the character over in 2005. Her advice when stepping into the shoes of an already established character?
She tells SOD, that they should “watch what they have to watch” from a previous actor to learn relationship dynamics with other characters on the show; however, they should also, let it go and bring their own dynamic.
Carly certainly has evolved tremendously over the years as Wright has allowed the character to transform and grow, while still keeping some “Carly-esque” qualities intact!
GH Spoilers – What Does Tabyana Ali Have To Say About Recasts?
Young actress Sydney Mikayla burst onto the scene in 2019 and instantly became a fan favorite on the show playing the smart, beautiful, and feisty Trina Robinson.
Tabyana was recast in the role in 2022 and quickly won viewers over with her own unique portrayal of Trina.
Ali was also part of SOD’s “Actor’s Roundup” and the advice she gave was similar to Laura’s. She notes that recasts should just be themselves. She adds that, you can “study what you can study”, but you should make the character your own.
GH Spoilers – Cynthia Watros Adds Her 2 Cents …
Meanwhile, Nina Reeves entered the land of Port Charles in 2014 and was originated by Young and the Restless star, Michelle Stafford. Stafford left GH in 2019, and Watros was the recast of choice.
Many fans love Nina, some love to hate her, and some just despise her; however, no one can ever doubt the incredible talent Cynthia brings to the show. When it comes to recast advice, this is what Watros had to say: “Honor the role, but make sure to do your interpretation, also.”
Wise words from a seasoned actress!
