General Hospital spoilers and updates reveal the ABC soap is bringing on a lot of new faces this July.
Head Writers Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten provided Soap Opera Digest with an exclusive preview of what viewers can look forward to upon their arrival!
Introducing Dr. Tristan Roberts
Dean Geyer is set to make his debut as Tristan Roberts, an Australian physician whose name pays tribute to the late GH icon Tristan Rogers, known for his role as Robert Scorpio.
Korte and Van Etten share, “Tristan is a skilled surgeon, possessing a sharp wit and an unshakeable demeanor. He comes to town in search of a new beginning with a position at the hospital.”
Yet, Tristan will soon realize that this quest for a fresh start is more challenging than anticipated.
The writers hint that for Dr. Roberts, “severing ties with his past will be tough when he uncovers that his new home is intertwined with several links to the life he tried to escape.”
Korte And Van Etten Didn’t Say If The Life He Left Was In Australia Or Elsewhere
Korte and Van Etten did not specify if the life he left was in Australia or elsewhere, but there are several characters on the show connected to Australia.
Ethan Lovett (Nathan Dean), the son of Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) and Holly Sutton (Emma Samms), was brought up by an Australian family; Emma Scorpio-Drake (Braedyn Bruner) is the granddaughter of Australian Robert Scorpio.
Additionally, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) is the daughter of Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher), who is originally from Australia.
In the exclusive summer preview shared with Digest, Korte and Van Etten also revealed that Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) and Tristan start off “on the wrong foot.” Will this lead to a new workplace challenge for Britt- or could it spark an enemies-to-lovers storyline?
A SORASED Scout Cain
While GH watchers know Scout well, a new actress, Kayden Brenna Tokarski, will bring a fresh perspective as the character ages up.
Tokarski’s version of Scout will inherit traits from her parents: the late Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) and the cunning Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison).
“A more mature Scout will showcase her mother’s grit, her father’s cleverness, and her own unique mind,” say Korte and Van Etten.
Scout faces a tough family dynamic due to the ongoing conflict between her father and Sam’s family; her grandmother Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn), aunt Molly (Kristen Vaganos), and brother Danny (Asher Antonyzyn).
“She’s committed to balancing her love for Drew with her affection for the Davises, especially her beloved brother, Danny,” Korte and Van Etten explain-her family connections will significantly influence her upcoming storyline.
“She’s the heir of two prominent families, the Quatermaines and Davises/Cassadines,” the writers note; “This will place her at the center of a conflict involving characters of all ages from across the canvas.”
A Recast Serena Baldwin
Serena Baldwin first appeared on the show in 1993; she is the biological daughter of Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) and the late Dominique Stanton (Shell Danielson). Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) acted as a surrogate for Dominique, who had a terminal brain tumor;
Serena later became a key character on the GH spinoff Port Charles, which started in 1997. Carly Schroeder portrayed her as a child and returned briefly in 2017 when Serena came back after her grandfather, Lee Baldwin (Peter Hansen), passed away.
Now, nearly ten years since her last appearance, Serena is coming back to Port Charles, played by Kelly Kruger, known from The Young and the Restless. What brings her back home?
Trouble At Deception Brings Serena To Help Her Mother
“Trouble at Deception means it’s Lucy’s time of need-and it’s her beloved daughter who answers the call,” say Korte and Van Etten. However, Serena has her own reasons for returning.
“She has been traveling the world advocating for animals and the environment, but a personal issue makes her return to her mother timely,” the writers share.
“She comes to Port Charles to support her mother while also healing and regrouping;” viewers will notice traits from both her parents in Serena.
The writers note, “Serena is full of heart- but when Lucy directs her at the Quartermaines, we’ll see her cunning side; the scheming gene runs strong in the Coe and Baldwin families.”
New Character Hudson And A Mystery Character
In just a few weeks, Troy Lennon Appel will make his debut on screen as the businessman Hudson; “A mysterious stranger will arrive in town as July wraps up,” Korte and Van Etten reveal.
“Hudson is determined to track down a specific Port Charles resident, and nothing will deter him from achieving his goal.”
Meanwhile, the partners at Miller & Davis are experiencing a surge in their law practice and require additional assistance.
“Alexis [Nancy Lee Grahn] and Diane [Carolyn Hennesy] are overwhelmed with billable hours and decide to bring on an associate to help lighten the load,” Korte and Van Etten share with Digest.
“However, their new recruit might just become the cause of several new challenges for some characters on the canvas.”
