General Hospital spoilers suggest a rumor is circulating that Kelly Monaco (portrayer of the late Sam McCall) is a bit miffed over Steve Burton’s (portrayer of Jason Morgan) recent announcement that he’ll be dipping out of GH soon for a lengthy twelve weeks. Understandably, this is longer than any of us want to go without him in the mix.

It’s hard to say whether fans will respond well to whatever shake-up the storyline has to go through to accommodate Burton’s time off, but the rumor mill is claiming Monaco doesn’t understand why cast members like Burton get the time off they need when her requests for such were allegedly met with disdain.

Despite years of torment and love ebbing and flowing between Jason and Sam on-screen, the friendship between Burton and Monaco seemed to erode over time. While reports surfaced from time to time that blamed Burton’s ex-wife, he has never confirmed or denied those claims.

Regardless, Burton was a testament to decorum when he publicly expressed how sad he was that Monaco was being let go from the cast in 2024.

Further, his final scenes with her were some of his best — and that’s saying something after a career spanning more than three decades with GH.

Not All Pain is Temporary

Steve Burton might only be missing in action for a few months before he is expected to return in July, but with no predicted return actually coming through for Kelly Monaco, we’re left to continue grieving the death of Sam and everything that has transpired in the wake of that.

When Monaco left the show, she was clearly upset with her former employers, ands he promised more salacious details about what really happened were coming.

Those details never came, and her decision to keep quiet has made many fans wonder if she’s trying to preserve a potential opening for her to return.
