General Hospital spoilers reveal that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) has no clue who he is. In addition to amnesia, he’s far away from home and his loved ones. Nobody has any idea that he has Bipolar disorder and needs to be on medication. Bipolar disorder can get unpredictable and nasty if left untreated. It is dangerous and even deadly, which has us worried.
General Hospital Spoilers – Maurice Benard’s Mental Illness
GH spoilers reveal that even though mental illness still does have a big stigma attached, celebrities are coming forward trying to change that. Benard has been a mental health advocate for many years and was upfront about his diagnosis, even when he started at the ABC soap. In fact, he had a manic episode that spiraled out of control early on. Thankfully, the soap was understanding and Benard used it as a learning experience.
GH Spoilers – Mental Health Advocacy
He has spoken about mental health, written books, hosted podcasts, and even encourages struggling fans on his Instagram account. He is known for reaching out if a comment on social media has him concerned. So, he’s a pretty big advocate and makes sure that his character’s mental health storylines are carried out responsibly and realistically.
General Hospital Spoilers – Amnesiac Headed For Relapse
General Hospital spoilers reveal that Sonny (Maurice Benard) is in a dangerous predicament and doesn’t even realize it. He has no idea who he is, where he came from, or his medical history. The longer that he goes without his medication, the more likely it that a mental health relapse will occur. The one problem with Bipolar disorder is that suddenly stopping medication can not only cause symptoms to return but sometimes they can be much more vicious than before. Plus, some medications can’t be stopped abruptly or they could cause seizures or other side effects.
GH Spoilers – Sonny Corinthos In Danger
The soap has not shied away from storylines that show the ugly side of Bipolar disorder in the past. Sonny had his own relapse that was shown on-screen several years ago. Morgan Corinthos (Bryan Craig) was also Bipolar and fans saw the devastating effect of his medication being replaced with placebos. It is possible that Sonny being off his medication and nobody realizing it could lead to a dangerous situation. It could even turn deadly.
However, there could be a lifesaving moment in this storyline. Phyllis Caulfield (Juliette Jeffrey) is a nurse and could recognize the signs. There is also the chance that Morgan might not be dead like fans think, Celeb Dirty Laundry speculates. With amnesiacs, their memories can be triggered by a sight, sound, or even a smell. Maybe he will come across something (or someone) that reminds him of something, leading to his memories coming back. We will just have to keep watching to find out what happens with this story.
