General Hospital Spoilers: Sonya Eddy Lands New Exciting Primetime Gig

General Hospital: Sonya Eddy (Epiphany Johnson)Good news for all the fans who have missed seeing more of Epiphany Johnson on “General Hospital.” Sonya Eddy, the actress who’s portraying the character, has landed a new primetime crime drama called “Tommy” on CBS, which premiered Thursday, February 6th.

Before the series premiere, Eddy announced her appearance on the show on Twitter. “Hey Folks! Wanted to give you a heads up to watch #Tommy on @cbstv tomorrow eve at 10p. You may see someone you recognize! #EdieFalco #ILoveMyJob #cbspilot,” she posted.

The show is created by Paul Attanasio. Other cast members include Edie Falco, who plays the lead role, as well as Michael Chernus, Russell G. Jones, Olivia Lucy Phillip, Adelaide Clemens, Joseph Lyle Taylor, Thomas Sadoski, Vladimir Caamano, and more.

Edie stars as Abigail “Tommy” Thomas, a former high ranking NYPD officer who becomes LAPD’s first female chief of police. She uses ruthless tactics to enforce effective policing in the Southland and deal with various security issues in the area.

The show’s debut helped the network’s 10 p.m. time slot grow by more than 1.5 million viewers compared to the season finale of “Evil.” “Tommy” ranked first at the 10 p.m. slot, making it CBS’ biggest Live+Same Day audience in the hour for this season.

General Hospital News – Eddy’s Career

Eddy discovered her passion for performing at a young age. She studied English and African-American studies as well as a minor in Dramatic Arts at the University of California at Davis.

During her college days, Eddy joined the production of “Zora, Is My Name.” She also performed in shows like “Comedy of Errors,” “The Crucible,” “Pericles,” and “Into the Woods.”

Eddy’s acting credits include “Gilmore Girls,” “ER,” “Malcolm in the Middle,” “Felicity,” “Lizzie McGuire,” and “Seinfeld.”

Her film appearances include “Bad News Bears,” “Coach Carter,” “Daddy Daycare,” “Barbershop,” “Matchstick Men,” “The Hive,” “Seven Pounds,” and “Surviving Christmas.”

It’s also worth noting that Eddy is the only actor who got cast on “ER” twice. She appeared as a secretary back in 2001 and Harriet in 2006. Her work didn’t stop on TV, movies, and broadway. She is also a voice actor and had gigs in a few video games like “Driver: San Francisco” and “Guild Wars 2.” She’s even a trained singer. It seems like there’s nothing Eddy can’t do when it comes to entertaining people.
