General Hospital spoilers and updates reveal Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) teases what’s ahead for Jason, and some details on Jason’s new shift!

Steve Burton is back on General Hospital as Jason Morgan starting July 13 after taking a break since March-his recent remarks suggest that Jason will not be the same as before.

Steve Spilled The Tea On His And Bradford Anderson’s Podcast

In the latest episode of the That’s Awesome podcast, co-hosted with Bradford Anderson (Damian Spinelli), Daytime Emmy winner Burton shared what fans can expect when Jason returns to Port Charles.

In February, he announced a break from GH, with his last appearance on March 25 when Jason was arrested by the WSB.

He returned to filming on June 1, calling it “a whirlwind, for sure.”

“A lot has happened. I had some great scenes. It’s good, man,” Burton said-“We’re changing things up a bit, which will be interesting for fans, so get ready!”

When Anderson asked if this change is specific to Jason or the show overall, Burton clarified that it focuses on Jason’s storyline.

“Everything related to Jason and his world,” he explained-he also praised the writing team for providing fresh material.

Steve Feels The Writers Have Done An Excellent Job

“I believe the writers have done an excellent job. It’s really providing me with something to work with, which is great,” he remarked.

“It’s going to be intriguing. It’s stirring things up, which is going to be a lot of fun.”

Burton’s hint aligns with what the show’s head writers, Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten, recently suggested in Soap Opera Digest’s exclusive GH Summer Preview.

“Jason returns from overseas as a transformed individual,” they disclosed.

“His time in prison has significantly impacted his perspective and how he plans to approach the rest of his life.”

The Transformation Won’t Just Affect Jason, By Any Means!

Moreover, this transformation won’t be limited to Jason alone- Korte and Van Etten also indicated that Jason is about to make a choice “that will have major consequences for Danny Morgan [Asher Antonyzyn].

Plus,  Britt Westbourne [Kelly Thiebaud], the Quartermaines, Anna Devane [Finola Hughes], and particularly Sonny Corinthos [Maurice Benard].”

Meanwhile, Burton recognized that his departure left fans with numerous questions- and that the show may not resolve every storyline neatly.

“The manner in which I was removed from the show,” with Jason taking the blame for shooting Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) to safeguard Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr), “left a lot of questions,” Burton stated.

Steve Expects Some Lovers, And Some, Not So Much For The New Jason

Burton, however, appeared to be invigorated by the upcoming developments- even though he anticipates that the audience may have mixed feelings about how it all unfolds.

“I believe it will be exciting for the fans, particularly in terms of the storyline,” he elaborated.

“I’m certain that some viewers will absolutely adore it, while others may not be as enthusiastic; but, you know, that’s just part of the experience, isn’t it?”

Jason is set to return on July 13-and with a significant “shift” on the horizon and a crucial decision looming, the repercussions could resonate throughout the entire narrative.
