One of those is Tristan Rogers who plays the legendary Robert Scorpio on the ABC sudser.
After California Governor Gavin Newsom seemingly gave the green light for studios to come out of mothballs, Rogers tweeted the good news saying, “OK I think I’m lighting a fire here but I tend to do that. Production has been ok’d for June 12. And awwwaaaayyyywwweeee go.”
General Hospital Spoilers – Tristan Rogers can’t wait to get back to work
However, once one reads the actual statement released by the governor’s office, it appears that there are still some hoops to jump through.
As we previously reported, this is part of the statement from the California Department of Public Health via the Governor’s Office on Friday: “Music, TV and film production may resume in California, recommended no sooner than June 12, 2020, and subject to approval by the county public health officers within the jurisdictions of operations following their review of local epidemiological data including cases per 100,000 population, rate of test positivity, and local preparedness to support a health care surge, vulnerable populations, contact tracing, and testing.”
That’s a lot of “subject to,” and “review of,” the studios must meet in terms of operational objectives. Apparently Rogers had second thoughts about his enthusiasm, realizing how much double talk can be contained in political jargon because he later tweeted, “This is for production in general. Maybe I should have said that. But…..GH is part of that.”
GH Updates – Let’s not look a gift horse in the mouth
Not to rain on anyone’s parade here, but in fact, the governor has hemmed and hawed an awful lot in his statements regarding filming, more than once not following through on words that indicated he was ready to set a date.
Still, let’s hope for the best, and hopefully, the three American soaps which have run out of original episodes during the hiatus can get to work sooner rather than later. General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless are in this boat, while Days of our Lives is still showing original content. All four shows stopped filming in mid-March.
General Hospital spoilers – Is the news too good to be true?
Most fans were happy to hear the news and took it at face value. Some fans were a bit cool on the news however, with one saying, “Hmmmmmm, A little too soon. IMHO.”
