General Hospital spoilers and updates reveal Troy Lennon Appel (Hudson) revealed Hudson’s shady motives to TV Insider. He doesn’t reveal exact specifics, but more like Hudson’s personality and make-up.
Troy First Tried Out For The Role Of Joe Fitzpatrick
Appel first gained the show’s attention when he tried out for the role of Joe Fitzpatrick, which eventually went to Jonathan Bennett.
Even though he didn’t get the part, the producers soon found another chance for him. “It was never something I thought would happen in my life, but they created this role for me,” Appel reflects. “
That’s how they described it to me. I did a chemistry read with Eden McCoy (Josslyn Jacks) later on when I was sure I would be playing a different character, and everything just fell into place. I’m incredibly thankful that it did.”
Appel Is New To Daytime But Quickly Adapted
Even though he was new to daytime, Appel quickly adapted to the show’s rigorous schedule; “I was informed that there are a lot of lines, but I wasn’t too worried,” he says.
“My background is in theater, so it feels like home in terms of having so much dialogue and only one take-it’s like a muscle that comes back, and I was eager for that challenge.”
Once he got to the set, the cast and crew made him feel comfortable. “Impostor syndrome is real,” Appel admits. “I still experience it sometimes, but what really stood out was how every single person in the cast, even the building’s security, was so eager to help me find my way around.”
The Cast Made Troy Feel At Home
The entire cast approached me to introduce themselves; I felt out of place, but they all made an effort to say, ‘You belong here. We want you with us.’
Everyone has been incredibly kind to me-I can’t express enough gratitude for how welcoming they have been and how smooth this transition has been.
I’ve really enjoyed the experience so far; one familiar face made those initial days easier. ‘Jonathan Bennett is a friend of mine,’ Appel shares.
‘I’ve worked with him before [in a Nissan commercial for Hallmark], and being on set with him has been fantastic; he made a point to tell everyone, ‘Do you know who Troy is?’
It was amusing because when I arrived at hair and makeup, others mentioned, ‘Jonathan has told us all about you,’ which was really nice.
Hudson Is Full Of Surprises, And Shady-His Motives Unclear
Regarding Hudson, Appel mentions that the newcomer still has many surprises ahead-even for the actor portraying him; ‘Hudson is a shady businessman, and his motives are unclear,’ Appel hints. ‘He seems to go one way, then shifts to another, keeping you guessing.
So far, the character I’ve played is much cooler than I am, making it a great experience. But he’s definitely a force to be reckoned with, and I’m not entirely sure of all his intentions in Port Charles. I’m eager to see where his story leads, as I feel very fortunate to play this role.
Hudson Will Interact With Numerous People
Viewers can look forward to Hudson interacting with numerous familiar faces from Port Charles. “I’ve collaborated quite a bit with Eden McCoy (Josslyn Jacks),” he shares. “I filmed some scenes with Amanda Setton, (Brook Lynn Quartermaine), Josh Swickard, (Harrison Chase), and Laura Wright, (Carly Spencer), so they’ve been integrating me into scenes with many legacy characters here. I’m amazed, thinking, ‘Oh, my God, I have a scene with Carly. Can you believe it?’
It’s been incredibly cool! And they’re moving me around to work with a lot of different people, which has been really thrilling to experience.”
Appel Is A Personal Trainer In Real Life
When Appel isn’t filming, he has another job; “I’m still a personal trainer, so on my off days, I’m working,” he says.
“I like to stay busy-on days I’m on General Hospital, I focus on that, and on my days off, I work and memorize my lines as much as possible.
I enjoy the fast pace. It’s challenging, but I’m happy to take it on. I want to perform well on the show and not be a burden-it’s a lot, but I embrace it because I want to show I belong. They’ve given me a wonderful opportunity, and I want to make them proud.”
Appel Is Married To His Wife Bernadette Who He Calls His Greatest Support
Off-screen, Appel is happily embracing married life with his wife Bernadette, whom he wed last October. “She goes by Bernie, and she’s been my support,” he shares. “I wouldn’t have landed General Hospital without her.
That’s a fact; she has been my greatest support in preparing for auditions and scenes, so I truly couldn’t do this without her.
She’s not part of the entertainment industry, she works in medical device sales- so I’m really thankful to have someone outside of that world who is so supportive of my career.
Appel Is Excited To Be A Part Of The ABC Soap
With the release of his first episode, Appel is soaking in the moment; “I’m definitely feeling nervous, but there’s a lot of excitement too,” he shares.
“This experience has been incredible, and I truly hope my performance shows how much effort I want to invest in this and how much I enjoy it.
My entire family has been eagerly anticipating this since I got the role; they’re thrilled!
Yet, I can’t shake the feeling that something might go wrong, but it hasn’t happened because everyone has been so kind and supportive. It’s truly a dream job, and I’m savoring every moment of it.”
