The actor talked about the character and explained that Victor is a “complete psychopath.” However, he also clarified that psychopaths aren’t always evil.

GH spoilers reveal that Victor Cassadine is back from the dead. When Shaughnessy was confirmed to be coming to the long-running ABC soap, Victor is one of the theories that circulated the web. As soap fans know, death isn’t always the end and doesn’t have to be permanent.

GH Spoilers – ‘A Complete Psychopath’

Speaking to Soap Opera Digest, Shaughnessy said that Victor is a “complete psychopath.” At the same time, he tried to explain that psychopaths aren’t necessarily evil, but do all share certain qualities.

“Victor is a classic psychopath who can get violent, can get aggressive, but a psychopath doesn’t necessarily have to be that. They just have to be master manipulators, and have a complete lack of empathy. You don’t have a kind of purely evil character, you just have someone who is entirely about what they want and achieving their goals, with absolutely no compunction, no moral compass. And that’s kind of scary — and fascinating!”

General Hospital spoilers reveal that Shaughnessy commented on getting the role of Victor on GH. The actor, who recently reprised the role of Shane Donovan for Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem, said how grateful he is. Shaughnessy told the magazine that he is very excited by the opportunity. He mentioned how unique it is to play a classic character but still be able to put his own twist and spin on it.

GH Spoilers – Working With Kathleen Gati

When Victor made his reappearance, it was to Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati), who hasn’t been seen since. Speaking of working with Gati, Shaughnessy said that they both like to rehearse and she was kind enough to show him the ropes.

“She took me under her wing immediately and showed me the ropes, showed me where the stage was. Like me, she loves to rehearse, she likes to really work a scene. We were on the same page with that, so that was great. It’s just the two of us at the moment in this rather intense situation and scenes. I’m sure it will expand a bit, but I couldn’t have asked for a better playmate for the first few days. She was just a wonderful person to play off.”
