General Hospital spoilers reveals Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) has struggled for years with his identity and accepting his place in his family. He was ostracized from the Cassadine clan for years, never good enough to be embraced by them. Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) went out of her way as the cold-hearted mother she was to alienate Valentin from his family.
She told Stefan Cassadine (Stephen Nichols) and Stavros Cassadine (Robert Kelker-Kelly) to steer clear of him, and she tried to impress the same upon Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) — who hadn’t listened.
General Hospital Spoilers — Valentin Cassadine’s Checkered Family Tree
Valentin has only ever wanted to be accepted and loved for who he is. Having his own mother turn against him for the entirety of his life left him holding grudges against everyone he knows. It’s taken Valentin years and a lot of concerted effort to stop taking his pain out on everyone else and open himself up to love.
Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) may have helped with some of that, but having to be the good man he needed to be to win Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) over really turned things around for Valentin. He’s also been able to be a fabulous father to Charlotte Cassadine (Amelie McLain) despite not having a good example of one himself.
GH Spoilers – Remind Valentin Cassadine Merely Took His Parents’ Words
Originally, Valentin thought Mikkos Cassadine (John Colicos) for the bulk of his life. A cruel joke laid out by Helena, she later revealed she had an affair and claimed Valentin wasn’t even a real Cassadine. This left him feeling aimless and even more alone than ever before in his life. Valentin should’ve known better than to trust Helena, but he believed her claim.
Then, he came face-to-face with Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaugnessy), who revealed himself as Valentin’s real father. Yes, Helena has an affair, but she allegedly had it with another Cassadine. Again, Valentin took Victor at his word and didn’t question his claim of paternity.
General Hospital Spoilers — Who Is Valentin Cassadine’s Father?
Is Valentin so desperate to retain his Cassadine name that he will accept parentage from anyone who offers it? After all that Victor has put him through, one would think Valentin would be looking for any sign of a way out. The fact that he’s never pursued a DNA test to confirm Victor’s claim is out of character for Valentin, and fans remain hopeful he will eventually come to his senses.
Perhaps soon, Victor will slip up in a major way that lets Valentin know he’s not the father he claimed to be. Of course, that will leave Valentin at square one. Not a Cassadine. Still, rumors are swirling that he may have a more prestigious name in Port Charles given his involvement in the family business in recent years. Might Valentin actually be the son of Edward Quartermaine (John Ingle)? Stay tuned right here for more GH news and spoilers to find out!
